Just curious, haven’t been able to buy 9mm ammo at Wal-Mart for several months here. I was told they got a shipment in last week, but sold out in 1 day.

Maybe it’s time for some x-mil to start some informal neighborhood training...

1) millions of guns and rounds are flying off the shelf as soon as they arrive or are back-ordered for months;

2) A lot of commentary has said this is because of fear of new gun control laws, which is in part correct. But fom the people I know, many of whom are veterans, they're not just buying them just because they're afraid they soon won't be able to: they're buying them because they think they might have to use them. And not against hungry hordes of homeless but against the Federal government.

If we get an attempt at or passage of i) the 'Fairness' Doctrine or ii) a renewal of the AWB, look for a campaign of targeted assassination and civil disobedience.

I spoke with my brother yesterday, who is on a hunting trip at a ranch with a few friends and a bunch of strangers.

Every single hunter admitted thinking about when it would become necessary to use force against the current regime.

I have heard the same from others & I am not hearing a lot of false machismo, just a kind of heavy resignation and determination to stand against the loss of our fundamental liberties. Something to think about.

That brings up an interesting point. Maybe it wouldn’t be a bad idea for each of us to buy a few extra guns cheap (ie the <$100 Nosins) to distribute when needed. (some ammo for them too...

Soros Sees No Bottom For World Financial "Collapse"

Sat Feb 21, 2009 4:19pm EST

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Renowned investor George Soros said on Friday the world financial system has effectively disintegrated, adding that there is yet no prospect of a near-term resolution to the crisis.

Soros said the turbulence is actually more severe than during the Great Depression, comparing the current situation to the demise of the Soviet Union.

He said the bankruptcy of Lehman Brothers in September marked a turning point in the functioning of the market system.

"We witnessed the collapse of the financial system," Soros said at a Columbia University dinner. "It was placed on life support, and it's still on life support. There's no sign that we are anywhere near a bottom."

Not a bad idea. I would prefer 5 - 10 semi-autos, but they’re expensive (maybe SKS’s?).

With all due respect to your friend...I take issue with that statement.

This fellow came from teaching at a magnet school in Montgomery, AL, to teach at a pubic high school here in Tennessee. The change he saw was all too obvious, especially with the local administrators. Some of the stories he has about teachers and administrators he's experienced would curl your hair. He is well aware that there are quite a few good teachers trying to do a good job. He's also acutely aware that our public skools are a mess. As such, he sends his child to private school, making tremendous sacrifices to his own existence to do so. He's very aware of the lack of parental interest. However, he's also confronted daily with teachers and administrators who do the minimum to get by, and, by his estimation, that is about 50% of them he has encountered....hence the saying he uses you find so much displeasure with.

The problem is that the majority of people that show up at the meetings and write their congressman, are doing so to beg for more handouts and Gov programs.

Precisely my point. Thank you for providing more insight into what I was saying. If you are a Conservative and you want things to continue down the road to full blown Socialism, continue to not show up and confront these STUPID people. It's yours to lose....

Myself and three of my neighborhood friends are building a shooting practice range for our use today...we have buldozers, cross-ties, etc. One of these friends gave his wife an AR-15 for Valentine's day.

This range will be for us to practice and to familiarize other family members with firearms and how to use.

Lady GOP is correct. I saw this live a couple of days ago, and frankly, couldn't belive it was finally being discussed on national television. Stuff that has been talked about “in the back room” for years.

I tried downloading it but for some reason it stopped. I will try again. Is this the whole program from 2/20?

I remember that. I was going to UT at the time and all the faculty were 100% convinced that without a state income tax Tennessee would be DOOMED. The profs would work stuff about the tax into their lectures. But of course TN did fine without the tax.

The gun business, particularly the assault weapon and ammunition sides of it,

Just don’t fall into the liberal trap of calling just any semi-automatic weapon an assault weapon, or even look a likes with accouterments found on some assault weapons. Real Assault weapons are very very very expensive. That is the clue which no anti-gun liberal has. Smoke, mirrors and deception leading the American sheep down the path of least resistance. No pun intended.

Certainly, any training would help, and sessions could be held at the local fish and game club. The problem is having the facilities to do useful realistic training. My own F+G club had a “tactical” group that would meet for training, but fears of launching rounds out of the club grounds put an effective end to that. One of the great things about Gunsite is that they can do training that even most military ranges can’t do because of safety rules.

Maybe a little of each. Something like a mosin might be good enough for the isolated loyalist to protect themselves and their neighbors from minor problems (or to get them a better weapon :) ). 800 rounds of 7.62x54 can be found for about $70-80 online. This is something that almost any family can swing. It could easily be used to take down some game also.

What semi is inexpensive now? I think the cheapest sks are around $300.00 ?

Tell me more about Gunsite if you have a minute. I’m not familiar with them.
