Just wondering being that Clyburn slipped that provision into the bill that a states legislature can overide a govenor on the stimulus. Doesn’t that intrude in on states rights and leave the bill open to challenge if necessary up to the supreme court?

We in the GOP as well as the Conservatives “MUST” take a stand. Go to the Townhall meetings, if there are not any Townhall meetings, start your own Townhall meetings. Go to every local meeting, district meeting, and any chance that arises go to meetings held by local and state elected politician. (Sorry, I can’t use the word leader until hopefully, in the future, some leadership is shown.)

Take back your Local Governments and your Congressional Districts. Local politics matter!

In unity, there may not be enough strength yet, but it's a great start for publicity and psychological purposes.

Kinda like Dolittle's raid on Tokyo--it shocked the enemy and gave the home front a big morale boost at an otherwise very bad time for us. Kinda like now.

The black Rep. who put that clause in said he did it to prevent white southern governors from taking money away from "black folk" in their states. He said it is RACIST to oppose the stimulus.

This drooling fool apparently doesn't get it that the USSC will knock this down PDQ. OTOH maybe they WANT a race war.

Maybe they figure a race war will be the excuse for seizing the guns.

Maybe they're all too effing stupid to figure out that the vast majority of Americans will understand that they CANNOT be disarmed while under attack...

Maybe they're too stupid to remember that their own party is the party of racists. Maybe the smarter ones among Dems plus the many Dem racists will fight along side us (who are NOT racist, but who are not psychotically suicidal).

No doubt. It is growing every day. They have gone too far. Santelli is a good example. Once more people lose the fear of PC and start speaking what is really in their mind LOOK OUT. Even on FR people are afraid of PC police.

The so-called stimulus package combines expanded welfare with pork and waste. The tax cuts are miniscule.

What the country needs is elimination of the federal income tax, replacing it with a national sales tax - The Fair Tax.

Congress and the president don’t want that, of course, since it would take away a key tool which they use to control us via tax credits, tax penalties, rewards for some behavior and punishments for others - even to the extent of how many children we have, whether we are married or not, how much we give to charities, and how much we give to our own family members.

The provision in Porkulus allowing the end run around governers will succeed if the courts allow it. In light of all the federal usurpation the courts have already allowed, it is a foregone conclusion to me that this one will be allowed, too.

Federalism is effectively dead.

A billion per state is “only” 50B....a drop in the bucket. Hard to refuse a billion. It’s a lot of money. At what price do you prostitute your principles? Pride goeth before the fall.

The Congress of the United States cannot override the republican forms of government in the States through "language". The Constitution of each State lays out what the state legislature can and cannot do in regards to that state's executive branch. Congress cannot void State constitutions....or make Governor's powerless in their own state by legislative language.....at least legally.

That may be true, technically, but you surely know that the move is on by the federals to roll over the states and how many state-level politicians can be counted on to resist the "Free Government Money". My guess is that most will rush to hand over what is left of their state's sovereignty to the feds in exchange for a few strips of bacon.

Our House (Dem Controlled) has already incorporated the porkulus money into next years budget. I can only hope that the Senate (Rep. Controlled) has more brains than that, but somehow I doubt it. Maybe Governor Daniels will tell the fed to pound sand, but again, I doubt it.

Now this is more like it. Lead by example! Their states will be better off than those who do take this money and do not reform their government and cut spending and programs.

You make an excellent point.

This particular law seems to trample all over state laws and sovereignty.

Absolute power corrupts absolutely. Fascism usually attracts followers in very difficult times. Communism is no better. We all want to be left alone by the state. In totalitarian state, the state is the supreme. The state is the father, & the state is God.

While Jindal, Palin, Mississippi’s Haley Barbour, Texas’ Rick Perry and Mark Sanford have said they wouldn’t take stimulus money — Perry and Sanford have since backed down slightly on that — Crist has taken the opposite tack. California’s Arnold Schwarzenegger and Vermont’s Jim Douglas have also expressed support for it. Schwarzenegger even unabashedly wrote a letter to Obama in early January lobbying him for a “substantial federal stimulus program,” as his state is facing a near-budget crisis.

Crist — the moderate Floridian — went so far in his support of the bill as to introduce President Obama at a Ft. Myers, Fla., event where he was stumping for the stimulus. That prompted a sharp rebuke from Sanford, who doubles as chairman of the Republican Governors Association.

No way. Crist practically made out with Obama on the stage down in Flordia talking about what a great deal this was
______________
Exactly . Our RINO governor is no friend of Republicans. He’s a greedy little RINO worm.
