BTW as a side bar Iran has decided to eradicate the Bahai faith in the islamic Mullah regime.

Mullah's are afraid of Bahai - strong good ideas can trample weak ideas.

My pleasure. First off, the message of The Road is that socialism eventually ends in tyranny.

Chap X is "Why The Worst Get on Top." Totalitarian governments are naturally founded by people far closer to thugs than saints. It has to be, because the old traditions and structures must be swept away. The unscrupulous and uninhibited characters are the ones to do it. Rahm Emanuel, an amoral barbarian of the Left is the perfect choice.

A quote which perfectly fits the first month of Obamanation: "We must here return for a moment to the position which preceded the suppression of democratic institutions and the creation of totalitarian regimes. In this stage it is the general demand for quick and determined government action that is the dominating element in the situation, dissatisfaction with the slow and cumbersome course of democratic procedure which makes action for action's sake the goal. It is then the man or the party who seems strong and resolute enough "to get things done" who exercises the greatest appeal." Porkulus, takeover of the census, kill talk radio.

Power is retained, "not in the assured votes of huge numbers at occasional elections but in the absolute and unreserved support of a smaller but more thoroughly organized body." ACORN?

"They had set themselves a task which only the ruthless, ready to disregard the barriers of accepted morals can execute."

"He will be able to obtain the support of all the docile and gullible, who have no strong convictions of their own, but are prepared to accept a ready made system of values if it is only drummed into their ears sufficiently loudly and frequently."

"It is, as it were the lowest common denominator which unites the largest number of people.

I pulled the quotes from the first four pages of Ch X. You get the idea.

Wow!!

Hayek’s illustrations are not only historic but unfortunately eerily prophetic.

Send the link to this thread to your friends! Let them see what is happening! Anyone can read this in a short period of time, it will certainly help them see the light.

Even if they don’t agree NOW, as time goes on, the images will stick with them...they’ll eventually come around.

I am living testimony to the fact: liberals CAN change. :)

Hayek was mentioned in David Brook’s column yesterday. He listed some other writers along the lines of Hayek - we might want to list excepts from all of them... We could be walking into dangerous times - with the best of intentions.

Hayek’s illustrations are not only historic but unfortunately eerily prophetic.

We might be repeating history - one of the worst episodes in the world's history. And this time it won't be "the Joos" it'll be middle class conservatives ( the vast right wing conspiracy), in short - us.

Clinton tried to demonize us - and failed because his wife spilled the beans. Still, we're the biggest threat to a totalitarian takeover - and the insanity Hayek speaks of requires a scapegoat. We would be a twofer.
