An Oklahoma City police officer wrongly pulled over a man last week and confiscated an anti-President Barack Obama sign the man had on his vehicle.
The officer misinterpreted the sign as threatening, said Capt. Steve McCool, of the Oklahoma City Police Department, and took the sign, which read "Abort Obama, not the unborn."
Chip Harrison said he was driving to work when a police car followed him for several miles and then signaled for him to pull over.
''I pulled over, knowing I hadn't done anything wrong," Harrison said in a recent phone interview.
When the officer asked Harrison if he knew why he had been pulled over, Harrison said he did not.

“The officer should have been fired for stupidity.”
The Secret Service agents should be fired as well.
It had been ALREADY determined by the police AND the Secret Service that Mr. Harrison did not break any laws or threaten the president (so-called).
At the most they should have asked Mr. Harrison a few questions on the phone or on his front porch and then removed themselves from his life altogether.
This is intimidation.
The SS had no choice once they had been notified by the police. On the 0.00000000001% chance that this guy really was a nutjob, they would have been fired for negligence because of not “checking into things.”
the Secret Service called me and said they weren't going to ransack my house or anything ... they just wanted to (walk through the house) and make sure I wasn't a part of any hate groups."
"Hate groups," eh? I suspect that desigation applies to almost anything these days. If the SS found that Harrison is a member of the Minutemen or the NRA or Free Republic would that've raised their suspicions? Could be.
Please find a picture of the cop for us. Even if only a link to a story showing his face. His own stupidity needs to be exposed.
wow. i was going to say that the cop pulling him over with no probable cause sounds like a pretty good case for a civil rights violation, but the search by the SS crosses the line.
Free speech is not a leftist aka progressive strong point.
For an anti-Obama/Abortion sign display, the Secret Service searches his home to see if the belongs to a Hate Group?
Wasnt it nice when we had liberties?
Those sites were not blocked, and interestingly Ann Coulter’s was blocked as “Adult”
There you go using thst hateful N letter!
CHANGE YOU CAN BELIEVE IN.
So how many libtards had the SS go through their homes based on them sporting their far worse hate Bush propaganda on their cars.
This is BS to the millionth power.
“Civilian Military Force” is already in place....
September 26, 2008 Barack Obama is now using local law enforcement officials to carry out his campaign of legal intimidation by assembling a group of high-ranking Missouri police officials and prosecutors including St. Louis County Prosecutor Bob McCullough and City of St. Louis Circuit Attorney Jennifer Joyce to identify and target anyone the campaign determines is producing misleading political advertisements.

He can be a member of the Neo-Nazi Party, Nation of Islam, and the He-Man Woman Haters' Club all at the same time, membership isn't a crime. It's none of any government agency's business what "hate groups" he's part of. Is Rush 24/7 a "hate group" now?
This is a civil rights infringement case, pure and simple. Where is the ACLU? Are there any conservative lawyers out in FR land?
This is quite literally and without hyperbole, a police state example.
The cop should be fired.
Who made the call to the SS? Was the referral approved by the arresting officer's superiors? I just don't believe that this is the work of a rogue police officer. The officer's superiors must be part of it.
“The officer misinterpreted the sign as threatening, said Capt. Steve McCool, of the Oklahoma City Police Department, and took the sign, which read “Abort Obama, not the unborn.”
The only way this would be a threat is if A) Obama is an unborn baby and B) The officer is pro-life. Cop had no business pulling this car over.
Where’s the ACLU when they’re really needed?
” . . . they interviewed and left.”
No, they didn’t. They walked through the man’s house, and that is a warrentless search. He did give permission, so probably nothing more can be said. But it is a way to intimidate him and the public.
Since the Secret Service itself had ALREADY stated that his sign was not a threat, they should not have desired a search of his premises.
