FDA Declares Vitamin B6 A Drug

The FDA has effectively banned a naturally-occurring form of vitamin B6 called pyridoxamine by declaring it to be a drug, reports the American Association for Health Freedom. Responding to a petition filed by a drug company, the FDA declared pyridoxamine to be "a new drug."

Now, any nutritional supplements containing pyridoxamine will be considered adulterated and illegal by the FDA, which may raid vitamin companies and seize such products. See the history of FDA raids on vitamin companies here: http://www.naturalnews.com/021791.html

Pyridoxamine occurs naturally in fish, chicken and other foods (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vitamin_B6), putting the FDA in the strange position of banning a substance from dietary supplements even though it is already present in the food supply.

What is really bad it you need to take your B vitamins in a balanced manner.. if you don’t you can throw another off, so you should always take B50 or B100... and the thing is these are ALL water soluble so not dangerous in any way shape or form... this is pure crap!

Most of our fish is farm raised and not full of the healthy vitamins, they actually feed a lot of the fish dog food which is high in grains and increases the Omega 6 instead of the heart-healthy Omega 3.

I think I need to plead on the mercy of the court here. I may have been way off base. The Pyridoxamine is a different form of B6, and the long standing Pyridoxine is probably not involved. The Pyridoxamine formulation may be able to get patent protection since it’s a new product, or that seems likely under what must be a new patent application and recognition by the FDA.

My harsh comments to the contrary, this may not be as problematic as I first thought.

This title is very misleading. The FDA is declaring the Pyridoxamine B6 product to be a drug. They are not declaring the Pyridoxine B6 to be a drug.

It was my mistake for not focusing on that from the very beginning.

There has been an effort to bring all vitamins under the FDA’s control. It’s been a bone of contention for at least twenty years that I know of.

There is a very strong lobby on this issue, the public. Many folks are tied to vitamins and food supplements. They really go ballistic when the government acts as if it wants to take over.

Still, I think you’ve made the right choice, keeping a little stock ahead. I don’t blame you.

These folks in Washington don’t listen to anyone these days. We saw that driven home this last weekend.

That’s possibly why it is has never overtaken the Darvocet market. And why, just perhaps, it needs a little help from the FDA to clear away the competition?

Vitamin B6 is key to your stomach creating HCL (Hydrochloric Acid) and without HCL you cannot aborb minerals or vitamins, then degenerative disease sets is, this is why they are making the move, to make billions. We eat less meat and fish these days and supplimentation is becoming key, folks are waking up about heart disease (which isn’t a disease) and threating the drug companies because one can heal themselves naturally, this is but the very beginning.

They not only don’t listen to us, they laugh about our input. The voters who keep sending Murtha and others like him back year after year are as big a problem as the people in those offices.
