Collins told reporters she hoped fellow GOP lawmakers would reconsider when the final compromise comes to a vote “rather than just reflexively oppose this.”
She said the negotiators had “tightened and scrubbed it” to eliminate wasteful spending.

You are exactly correct, and people are being naive. if any of these three senators had reason to think that there would be repercussions-from their voters, from the party leadership, from their fellow Republican senators-they wouldn’t be adamantly taking the step they’re taking by voting with the rats. Career politicians don’t do things that way.

I would say that ought to be ashamed of themselves but clearly they have no shame.
The fact that everyone is all smiles tells me that they have no real concept of the gravity of the decisions they’ve made. None of them.
To be pleased with themselves as if they’ve accomplished some enormously wonderful feat.
This is one of the worst times in this country, and no matter how you look at it, spending THAT kind of money should not put a smile on anyone’s face. It should be a time to be serious and somber. Yet, they grin from ear to ear like like children in a candy store.
