Fellow Freepers, you just missed a great show. Democrat Maxine Waters just had a psychotic break during the House grilling of top bank CEOs regarding what happened to the $ 350B they got but somehow never made it to customers.
Maxine -- never the calmest of souls -- got on an incomprehensible tear and, her voice rising and becoming a low-level screech, began accusing the CEOs assembled of piracy, lying, and gross abuse of bank customers. She lit into a litany of every Leftist Lunatic grudge against capitalism in general and banks in particular. Wild-eyed and shaking, she stopped actually asking these poor guys questions and simply yelled accusations at them, telling them to "raise your hands" if they pled guilty. No one could get a word in edgewise. Finally, as Maxine reached the level of Howard Dean screaming at his audience, the chair interrupted and tried to get her to stop self-destructing on TV. Maxine ignored him and kept her screechfest going. Finally, the chair simply stopped her, telling her that she needed to submit her "questions" to the CEOs after the hearing ended. Moment of stunned silence. Then the grilling continued by another, saner Dem.
I hope this makes Youtube. Waters is a raving hatemonger and we need to make sure everyone sees her in action.
I’m with you...it makes me sick to see the House treating these guys with kid gloves...they crashed the economy...the auto CEO’s were treated like crap...but these masters of the universe are so special...it takes talent to bankrupt your company and the country...for sure. How come no one asked if these bozos flew to Washington on private jets? How come no one points out that there’s is failed business model? These banks are basically insolvent. I want to see a viability plan asap.
>>Maybe because theyre being more American than out Congress...
>
>What!?!
>
>Russia is being American?
Well, it makes sense in a perverted way, now that we have the President that we have, that Russia should be concerned about capitalism.
>What are you talking about.
Indeed, this is all insane. Did I fall through some sort of portal to the Bizarro world?
I'd love to run into her in the dark - with a bulldozer!
Greed mandated what the banks did...
“..this woman has no idea what shes talking about”
With both the lisping c*cks*cker Barney Frank and the commie Waters going off today on the bankers, it’ll be interesting to see if they make the news tonight.
Government mandates much of what the financial institutions have been doing the last decade or two. Even before the Community Reinvestment Act. Everything that is currently falling down around our ears can be laid at Congress' feet.
Didn’t Maxine just vote for spending 1,000,000 MILLION(1 trillion) dollars for all kinds of pork fried goodies by Count Blackula?.. You know the Rapper in Chief..
Mad Max has always represented the California 35th Congressional District in what used to be called South Central L.A. (but is now just called South L.A. to avoid the negatives that South Central evokes). Compton is not now, and never was, in her district.
As South Central became heavily Hispanic in the late 1990's, Mad Max was in danger of losing her once safe seat. So, during redistricting in 2001, our Marxist legislature expanded the 35th CD west and south to pick up some of the areas where blacks fled the Hispanics.
What I'm trying to say is she has no outrage for the mess that has been created. She and her ilk created it. On purpose. They love this. Chaos and destruction are the tools they use to reach their goal. I'm not saying stupid Maxine masterminded this plot--it's been going on for decades, but she's part of the party that has been whittling away at this country for decades and she's certainly crafty enough to recognize an opportunity to seize more power for her party.
thanx. In another two years she’ll be in the parliment in Havana.
You have a point there!LOL!
Yes, that's true.
No-it’s not. However, when you make reckless investments, bankrupt many individuals (401K), your company, and your country then get a bailout courtesy of taxpayers...please don’t whine about compensation and pretend you know how to ‘fix’ the problem...you caused! These guys are scum in my opinion. Why isn’t congress asking them about their derivative scheme....there are no serious questions.
Not really. I'd rather see them executed in the USA than to see any more American jobs outsourced. [/sarc]
Seriously, these vermin have pillaged our economy and millions of people have lost their retirement nest eggs and millions more are losing their jobs. While these guys live the high life. Even Bernie Madoff, an outright criminal, is being allowed to live in his fancy apartment that he bought with stolen money. These bastards are not at all accountable to our laws and I am getting really, really angry that they are not being held to account.
You're painting with a broad brush.
Some or all of the execs appearing today are not the same ones who were at the top while the "pillaging" was going on.
Many of these are the ones trying to right the ship.
They are not all getting "golden parachutes". The media is cherry picking to make it seem like they are all corrupt. It's far from true.
You should really direct your anger more toward gov't regulation that mandated sub-primes in the first place. Do you think banks wanted to issue scads of sub-prime loans. Ridiculous. Why would they issue loans with no hope of getting repaid? Sure, later when they found out Barney Frank said not to worry...the gov't would back the loans... they issued them freely.
hmmm...seemed pretty tame to me, especially for Waters.
The CEO’s will take it from her and still send her campaign money, in other words “Protection Money”.
It is perfectly legitimate to ask them if they raised interest rates after they received bailout funds from the taxpayers.
It is perfectly legitimate to ask them if they reduced their customers' credit lines based on where the customers shopped.
It is perfectly legitimate to ask them if they are using overseas contract employees to handle discussions with customers on loan modifications, repayments, etc.
It is perfectly legitimate to ask them about fees charged for handling, processing, or underwriting money provided to them by the government.
If the banks had not taken huge amounts of money from the government, then the answer to each question might well have been "Its none of your business" but once the bankers present decided to take money from the government (and ultimately us, the taxpayers) they put themselves in the position of a bankrupt company who borrows money from a debtor in possession lendor. That lendor gets to call the shots.
Personally, I'd like to see more of the Reps. ask the tough questions and push hard on the bankers sitting in front of them. You can be sure that those same bankers would be playing a much tougher game of hardball if they were the lenders and not the debtors.
The country would benefit dramatically if Congress would put very tough conditions on any bank accepting bailout funds - conditions like those that would be put on any bankrupt company by its debtor in possession lendors. Conditions like reduced credit card interest rates, requirements to hire employees in the USA instead of in India, and a waiver of many of their normal fees.
Banks which don't want the conditions can choose not to take bailout funds.
