London: The British Government will air ads on Pakistani television urging terrorists to not attack Britain.
Prominent British Muslims will star in the British Foreign Office-funded £400,000 (approximately Rs 2.9 crore)-campaign that is set to break on Pakistani television next Monday, ‘The Guardian’ reported on Tuesday.
The three-month public relations offensive, called ‘I Am the West’, will also include high-profile events in regions such as Peshawar and Mirpur, ‘The Guardian’ said. Seven in ten British Pakistanis are Mirpuris.
According to ‘The Guardian’, the first three ads in the project will feature British Communities Minister Sadiq Khan, UK manager of Islamic Relief Jehangir Malik, former England Under-19 captain and promising Worcestershire allrounder Moeen Ali, and the Lord Mayor of Birmingham, Chaudry Abdul Rashid, a Mirpuri.
The campaign, the paper said, will be targeted at ‘15-25-year-old males who are less than well-educated and worldly wise, but potentially susceptible to extremist doctrines’. Nine 30-second commercials, supported by ads on radio, will be aired on PTV, Geo TV and Khyber among other channels. If the Pakistani campaign is successful, it will be extended in Egypt, Yemen and Indonesia.

It has four key aims, the daily reported: ‘to ensure Pakistanis realise the west is not anti-Islamic, that British society is not anti-Islam, to demonstrate the extent to which Muslims are integrated into British society and to stimulate and facilitate constructive debate on the compatibility of liberal and Muslim values’.

The soldiers and my friends who have died serving over in Iraq and Afghanistan are not sissy’s either , they risked their life to help us on the war on terrorism.
Infact the UK has been America’s best ally so lets not say all Brits are sissies but yes the Govt is along with this Govt in America.

I agree. It is uncharacteristic of the Brits to run such ads. You are making yourselves look weak to Islamofacists and painting a target sign on your foreheads. This sort of thing looks like terrorism is working. It emboldens terrorists.
The UK is not alone. Obama’s capitualations to Iran, though a bit more dignified, are inviting terrorism. He doesn’t understand the way these people think, how they see such behavior. They are already mocking him over there at the announcement that he is “looking for openings”.
Sadam understood the mindset. Not that we should be like him, but we can learn from him that a firm hand is what they best understand. Both times that we invaded Iraq they cut & run the moment we showed force. We were celebrated as liberators one week. The moment we ease up, they get bold again.
I am not calling Brits sissies. I am saying the Islamofacists terrorists are. Such ads will haunt the Brits.

IIRC in that movie Dick Van Dyke played a small second role as an extremely old banker. One of the things he said was: "If the banks fall, England falls!" (as he toppled over).
Obviously there have been a lot of banks falling lately.

I wish America did open her borders to the average Brit who does not have any association to any left wing loon groups but while we have the Marxist running us then the only places immigrants will come from legally will be Africa and the middle east.
I do know that if America had one million green cards open to the UK then they will be all took within a day as emigration is at record levels and many In know want to come to America and live the American dream by working for it instead of these socialists and commies who expect to sit on their arse and be given handouts

Nauseating. I would ask how this has happened to that country, but when I look around here, I see. Those people should never have been allowed to step foot on British soil.
I think the problem in the UK is far far worse than it is in the United States, although the US does seem to be skipping down the same red-brick-road that the UK went down (and with Obama at the helm there is more than sufficient risk that the wall at the end of the road will loom large faster). However, the UK is far far down that path, and it seems to have been imbedded far far deeper.
Whether it is RN sailors getting (basically) kidnapped by the Iranians, to a police department apologizing for having a poster that had a picture of a dog (apparently unclean animals to Muslims, although ask me another when it comes to how a poster of a sweet little puppy ), to (again on canines) having to put little boots on the paws of dogs when in certain areas (again, uncleanliness and all that jazz), to over sensitivies, to vans with antennae driving around neighborhoods looking for who's watching TV without a TV license, to the ludicrous concept of happy slapping (even the most liberal Democrat in the most Liberal area of San Francisco would not just stand there and have some kid slap him, then tape his reaction on a phonecam while laughing), to the 'war on knives' etc etc.
There are a LOT of brave British men and women, and that will always be the case, however the nation as a whole seems to have atrophied. Big time.
As for stereotypes, the ridiculous thing is that ALL of the stereotypes against the French seem to be totally misplaced ....they actually ping closer to the Brits than to the French, and by far. Goodness, the French have the harshest anti-Islamic laws in Europe, with powers given to judges that would make Putin puke!
To paraphrase what another FReeper said (in one of the threads discussing the collision between French and British submarines): 'the French tried to contact the Brits, but couldn't communicate because the French couldn't understand Urdu and Arabic.'
Suffice it to say, something happened to the UK. I don't know what exactly, but between the war with Argentina and today, something happened.
I agree totally with all of that and because I agree is the reason why is just really saddens me to no end.
I really hate how the country has gone I really do.
I do however think it is to late to do anything and even if the BNP got in and stopped immigration from these 3rd world countries I only see a civil war

It doesn't make sense ...at least to me ....since the same issues that faced it had faced other 'weaker' Euro nations as well, and they rose above them while the UK went lights-out.
