Jim Robinson delivered the following letter to the offices of Senators Arlen Specter, Susan Collins and Olympia Snowe this morning.
The Honorable Arlen Specter
711 Hart Senate Office Building
Washington, D.C. 20510
Sen. Specter,
On behalf of the several hundred thousand members of FreeRepublic.com, I urge you to vote against cloture and passage of the so-called stimulus bill, or as we call it, the Porkulus Bill.
We appreciate your good faith efforts on improving the bill. However, statements by your Democratic colleagues show that they have no intention of abiding by the compromises negotiated with you. In short, the Democrats are playing you and the American people for suckers.
This bill needs to be stopped. If passed, it will pile so much debt on our citizens, with more indebtedness to come with TARP and the omnibus bill, that they will become slaves to that debt and slaves to government.
As you reflect on your votes today and tomorrow, I ask you to consider what our Founding Fathers would do in this situation. Would they sacrifice and endure short term pain for the good of the Nation, or would they vote to enslave future generations with unsustainable debt for short term gain?
May God save America from its government,
James C. Robinson

Charles Krauthammer has a marvelous article today. He mentions there is $88.6 million in the bill for new construction for Milwaukee Public Schools. Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports they have shrinking enrollment, 15 vacant schools, and “quite logically”, no plans for new construction!
I’m sure the Senators comeback would be that’s just a drop in the bucket. Actually, Senators, it’s money—money that we have to pay back. The drop in the bucket is your brain in your heads!
GREAT effort and wonderful closing line. Definitely tagline material.
Excellent letter. I wish my husband and I could be there. Thank you, Kristinn and Jim, for being there on our behalf. You make us proud.
Agree, we are not THEM. We don’t behave like they do....even though I may think it.
They'll never understand it.
Oh no, my post to you disappeared~ (:
I wanted to thank you for your effort in getting your 5 ! children up, fed, dressed and out the door in time to meet Jim Robinson! I am sure there’s a place in the Cabinet for a person of your skills! (Unless you had to bind and gag them!) What a wonderful example of responsible parenting—Bless You for making such an effort to teach them about our (irresponsible) Government.
I wonder how Specter felt seeing all those children he wants to burden with outrageous spending which is nothing more than campaign payback. He won’t be around to hear their protests when they see how much is taken out of their paychecks for this boondoggle!
Thank you elk, kristinn, Jim and all the others for being there for all of us.
The only good thing to come out of this will be more irresponsible government actions to be pointed out by Sarah Palin in 2012! If we thought she had giant crowds campaigning as Vice President by ineffectual campaign planners, we ain’t seen nothin’ yet! (Sorry, Dad)
AWESOME!!
Consider me co-signed!!
3 more banks failed last Friday, bringing the 2009 total to 9 already. 2 in California, 1 in Georgia.
Not a peep in the media about it, either.
I also have noticed:
On Charlie Gibson ABC Nightly News, they always used to give a few words about the Dow movement for the day.
Since NObama got coronated, Charlie only now talks about the DOW when it goes UP. Not a peep when it goes DOWN.
Every day. I think it every day. But that doesn't mean it's for public consumption. That's what makes us different from the animals that walk the Earth. Reason, intellect and decency. It's obvious "those" people are the ones lacking...
Bump!
Yup, great letter. Spectre is one of the three republicans(?) that obammy can use to justify using the ‘non-partisan’ label for his stimulus package.
ping
God Bless you and thank you both!

Once again, Jim does us proud - great letter.
If our founding fathers had been as short sighted as the current group in Washington, there never would have been a United States of America.

Obama will host at a town hall meeting in Elkhart, Ind. later Monday. As President Barack Obama pushes to sell the near $1 trillion economic stimulus package being debated in Congress with a primetime press conference and stops in Indiana and Florida this week public opinion appears mixed on the issue, according to most polls.
Though President Obama has kept an approval rating of 64 percent, differing polls show support for the stimulus package to be as low as 37 percent. Gallup polls have shown somewhat more favorable views on the plan than Rasmussen polls over the last week, but few respondents in either survey have supported the plan without changes.

We must be active in promoting our economy and stabilizing the United States as a model to the world.
Then why don't you do that instead of spending all this money on pork and for the growth of the DNC???
Dr. Zoo, I bring your attention to the blatant misuse of the letter "Z."
