CAMBRIDGE, Massachusetts (CNN) -- Former presidential candidate Ron Paul criticized President Obama's economic recovery proposal but said Saturday that blame for the financial crisis is deep-seated and includes Republicans who failed to hold the line on spending during the Bush administration.
He also offered a harsh critique of the three Republican senators who have said they will vote for the economic recovery proposal. A vote is scheduled for early next week.
Paul, a Republican representative from Texas who sought the GOP nomination for president, said that although some people call Obama's plan to jumpstart the economy a "stimulus package," he thinks it is a "pure spending package."

Better to be a Losertarian than to be a big-government Republican that bends over for the Dems.
I've seen it happen first-hand prior to the primaries. Paul supporters lined up at GOP offices to register or let them know why they aren't supporting Paul. They were either ridiculed, portrayed as kooks, or shown the door.
More people went to Paul rallies than all of the other GOP candidates combined. He was the biggest GOP fundraiser in the 2007 4th Quarter. I don't know about you, but the Republican Party completely screwed the pooch here. If not as presidential candidate, Paul should have at least been invited to the convention, been an economic advisor to McCain, or should have even been head of the RNC.

Right!!!!!!!!!!I’m so sick of all these freedom hating bastards. They can all go to hell-and,I personally hope they suffer dearly in the hell they are helping create.
BTW, it’s far past time for playing nice with any of these people.
Was it four? Or three, and the Dems were hoping for a 4th to make it *truly* “bipartisan” < /s>, as one news report I read said.
Ron can’t get anything done because none of the other bought and paid for useless piece of crap puppet sonsofb^tches will join him in his fight.
They’re all coward bast@rds in the district of criminals.Thay operate just like the mafia. All they do is continue their normal routine of ripping off the people, and cover each other’s behinds. They are far beyond worthless. You have no voice on the hill. If you think you do, you’re a fool.
We now have a one and a half party system.
“Dr. Paul was also marginalized, belittled, berated and bashed by some seriously disturbed and deranged FReepers who apparently couldnt bear the thought of having an actual Constitutional Conservative anywhere NEAR the White House”
He certainly was. I don’t agree with some things he proposed at all, but the media simply reduced him to a freak-show-topic when they talked about him at all.
“Perhaps they were just lucky this time, they certainly dont get their way every election cycle; but they certainly have good reason to feel pretty powerful about now.”
In my adult lifetime, they managed to keep clinton viable in 1992, though I think his victory in 92 is mainly due to ross perot (speculate as one will about his motives). In 1996, when you back perot’s numbers out, I don’t see that he was guaranteed to beat Dole, though it is possible since some perot voters then would just have voted for perot and stayed home otherwise.
2000 and 2004 they didn’t get their candidate in.
Anyone old enough to remember, say 1976, or the 1960 elections (which were won directly due to established vote fraud in tx and chicago, iirc, and it was known at the time)?
2008 they picked both major party candidates, including a democrat who had really never done anything in his life of note and who managed to not release a single major record about his past, and elected him.
I, too wonder about who exactly picked McPain to be the nominee.
Part of the problem was the obvious weakness of the rest of the field. That was clearly on display during the convention when both Huck and Romney gave their speeches back to back. The former just trotted out the same tired jokes that he used in the primary - get some new material, seriously - while the latter used his time to blast 'Eastern Elites' - which makes zero sense whatsoever coming from him. While either one may have had their good points, neither had much potential as a candidate.
As a Conservative who has been with other conservitive groups countering Code Pinkos, Pro Hamas, and pro illegal groups on the streets
You are a disgrace to the Marine Corp with your anti war
cult figure.
My dad was with the 1st Marine Div. in the Korean War at the Frozen Chosin and Inchon Landing, Purple Heart and Bronze Star.
I have several relatives in the Marines who have served several tours in Iraq and Afgh.
One is a Dr. , Marine Air, etc. One relative is leaving in a few weeks to Afgh.
I live less than three miles from MCRD San Diego.
All my relatives in the military and the Military who are my neighbors have no use for L Ron Paul.
Was just visiting with two Marine friends an hr ago one who was a Marine at Guadicanal WWII and a ret. Marine Major
Nam vet. Always nice to talk with Conservative Republicans rather than the L Ron Paul anti war, 9/11 Truthers, I get enough of that with the far left.
Of course Ron Paul is right on this and many other issues, but when he’s wrong... holy christmas he just heads straight for left field!
Ron has made so many completely irrational statements over the years that now he has the credibility of Lyndon LaRouche.
***You are a disgrace to the Marine Corp with your anti war
cult figure.***
What is your problem!? How can you insinuate that someone is a disgrace to the armed services simply because they’re anti war and that they support a different politician than you. I noticed in while listing those around you who have served that you yourself haven’t worn the uniform, and yet you feel high enough to tell someone who has that he is a disgrace? That’s disgusting. I have friends in ROTC who voted for Obama. I would never NEVER call them a disgrace even though they’re beliefs are far more to the left than anything you can make out Ron Paul to be.
God bless your relatives and friends in uniform. I sincerely hope you take back that statement above.
You have just insulted thousands of active duty personnel (more than McCain or any other GOP canididate!) who gave to the Paul campaign, many of whom, unlike you, risked their lives in Iraq.
...Bravo, I’ve tried to point that out in the past, but some folks here just think that since he was against an unconstitutional war in Iraq that he’s soft on the nations defense...
...Seems that makes him right about everything...
...So, what yer saying is that a dozen morons with bumper stickers speak for Ron Paul???
...That’s presumptuous and obtuse...
