WASHINGTON Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairman Michael Steele today released the following statement concerning the executive order quietly signed by President Barack Obama on Friday ordering the use of union labor for federal construction projects:
President Obamas executive order will drive up the cost of government at a time when we should be doing everything possible to save taxpayer dollars. Federal contracts should go to the businesses that can offer taxpayers the best value not just the unions who supported the Democrats campaigns last year. Quietly signing executive orders to payback campaign backers undermines Obama promise to change Washington. It is a disappointment for Americans hoping for more transparency and less politics as usual in Washington.
We have to buy into this crap for the childrenz If we dont spend a trillion , our kids may have to cruise for burgers on rough roads.
I am sick of Obamas urgency already
Amen
Zero is overplaying his hand. His approval rating is down to 60%. That’s basically what GW Bush had at the same date in 2001. The man has no mandate, and the more people see of him, the more they despise him.
Agreed. even DU is hating on him.
This guy is the most polarizing thing I have aver seen.
And what is hilarious is that he is being polarizing by being all over the map.
He is an equal opportunity asshole
It means no jobs for engineers, environmentalists, or any other usual preparation for the digging. They don’t want to pay anyone with any education.

The once so sadly Slave Labor Camp-imprisoned Vietnamese Americans from long ago, now living in a Free America, know first hand that if FREEDOM were to fall here...
...there would be nowhere else for them to run to this time around.
And neither would WE..!!!

NEVER FORGET

I am not adverse to labor jobs, but I would prefer that we move toward jobs for the educated.
I aint a fan of eggheads either.
America was built by smart people with dirty hands.
I dont like Obama locking people into roles. Thats why I hate unions. They lock you down. Any American should be able to do what ever they can do without Gov restrictions or mandates
"In actual fact, it is the State, i.e. the taxpayer, who has become responsible to private enterprise. In Fascist Italy the State pays for the blunders of private enterprise. As long as business was good, profit remained to private initiative. When the depression came, the Government added the loss to the tax-payer's burden. Profit is private and individual. Loss is public and social."Salvemini went on to discuss the bailouts, which were targeted to large corporations but not small businesses. All of this sounds familiar to everyone, I'm sure.--Under the Axe of Fascism, by Gaetano Salvemini, p. 416 (1936).
"In December 1932 a Fascist financial expert, Signor Mazuchelli, estimated that more than 8.5 billion lire had been paid out by the Government from 1923 to 1932 in order to help depressed industries (Rivista Bancaria, December 15th, 1932, p.1,007). From December 1932 to 1935 the outlay must have doubled."And I am sure I could dig around and find some wonderful quotes about the unions.--Under the Axe of Fascism, by Gaetano Salvemini (1936).

I’m curious...are you in one of those fields? I think you’re right on the nose with this.
It is the fourth union-friendly executive order that Obama has signed since he’s been in office.
“Todays Gift to Big Labor” Even as the nomination of Hilda Solis for Labor Secretary remains stalled due to tax and potential ethics rules troubles, organized labor got a large gift from President Obama today, as he signed an executive order instructing federal agencies to have contractors working on construction projects of $25 million or more to sign project labor agreements (PLAs) with labor unions and it may come at the expense of taxpayers.

Don't believe that was the topic. Therefore I never said anything about it. The only way to change it is to stop running and electing rino's. Pissing and moaning and misstating history does nothing.
Holding representatives feet to the fire works.
Call it pissing and moaning or call it a threat. It works
BTW, I wanna like Mike Steele, but he is a RINO
Age is north of 68 and tested IQ north of 135 but that doesn’t matter. The constitution, bill of rights and virtually all founding documents were written to be clear to everyone.
Before 1994 we were dealing with things like the renovation of Tip Oneal’s office bathroom, not to the largest spending orgy in the history of the world — probably including the Great Pyramid, King Solomon’s Temple and the Ziggurat of Ur (Tower of Babel) - all adjusted to today’s dollars:-o)
John Maynard Keynes was a socialist whose theories were written primarily to provide an interventionist rational to make marxist/communist thought and policies marketable in the west.
A crude but realistic analogy would be a con man who goes to Vegas and buys a stack of chips with a hot check in hopes that he can win a fortune at the tables before the check bounces and the sheriff shows up.
In the Obamanomics version of Keynes the plan is to try to write a hot check so large that the bank will cash it anyway for fear the casino will go bankrupt and default on it’s mortgage from the bank.
People we better quit exchanging zingers and think about this. Regardless of whether you adore Obama or hate him, he is, as far as we know, the least qualified president ever elected.
By his own account, as described in his biography, in his formative years he was drawn to and his political values shaped by marxist.
A major intellectual mentor was a communist poet.
His religious mentor was the wacko “black liberation” theologian Jeremiah Wright.
He served on the board of the Joyce Foundation which supports in whole or in part virtually every anti-gun statistics data mill operation from Violence Policy to the Brady Campaign.
He is a university graduate, but his records are sealed.
He is presumably a citizen, but Hawaii says his birth certificate cannot be released without his permission.
He says he believes in the constitution and bill of rights, but thinks the constitution should not be permitted to restrict the power of the federal government— exactly what it was written to do.
He says he believes in the first amendment, but thinks the government should enact legislation to silence public criticism from citizens.
He says he supports the second amendment, but you can quickly document almost 50 direct statements and actions he has made against it and, so far as I have been able to find, not a single word for it outside of the campaign.
The list is, or at least promises to be, endless.
Like his messiah prototype, his birth is shrouded in mystery and myth, his childhood is veiled in uncertainy and legend and can probably not be factually verified and even if it can it won’t be because of the potential catastrophic effect on the vision of hope he gives to the thousands who flock to be spellbound by his oratorically stunning and deceptively simple message of deliverance from their oppression. They don’t even have to actually do anything to earn it — just a simple profession of faith (and a vote)
Well he is now ensconced on the mount but it remains to be seen whether he will be able to walk on water or feed the multitude with the few rotting fishes remaining after Barney Frank, Dodd and their fellow Sanhedrin and the other moneychangers in the temple have eaten all they can hold.
Reading the first paragraph of the executive order is too much. The Obama administration is so laughably dishonest, it’s amazing. Is the average American this gullible? Either we’re a country populated entirely by people who will fall for Nigerian email scams ...or Republicans are going to have enough material for political ads from now until 2010 and beyond. Personally, I don’t see how this is going to fly ...at least in the south. The NE part of the country is beyond help.
No, I’m not in one of those fields, I’m just strongly anti-union. My grandfather was run-down by a hit and run driver as he stood on the curb in front of his home after being elected president of his machinists union in the late forties, because the CIO was not happy with his election.
Then, my husband has done labor negotiations for thirty years, for management. When he first started, our car was vandalized and I was receiving obscene phone calls at home during negotiations. I hate unions, so I follow union issues. Robert Reich confirmed my intuition about the SEIU union jobs when he said that these jobs are not for white men. He meant it, the SEIU was not formed for white men.
Whew, what a doozy:
(b) If an executive agency determines under subsection (a) that the use of a project labor agreement will satisfy the criteria in clauses (i) and (ii) of that subsection, the agency may, if appropriate, require that >>> every contractor or subcontractor on the project agree, for that project, to negotiate or become a party to a project labor agreement with one or more appropriate labor organizations. <<<<<
How can this be legal? Don’t government contracts by law have to go to the lowest bidder?
Go back and read post 1. That is not the proclamation of a RINO.
what if the the union is the local 666...
aaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
