Jim
Could we have something like an e-mail alert system?
It would work like this
We have mailed certain senators e=mails and numbers, mainly to our senators or reps who look to be wavering on an issue. Basically instead of just calling our own senator we’d have hundreds calling in one day from here the same senators.
Red dog Dems like Nelson , RINO’s and any others who look to waver.
It would be much more of a pressure tactic than say just our own local senator getting 50 calls.
We could also work in tandem with talk show host who have millions of listeners.
We get the mail alert that morning with the numbers for all of us to call and mail and then Rush , Hannity etc get their listeners to do the same
We’d have thousands if not a million calls to Snowe, etc...
No way could the likes of her ignore that amount and she would never know if we were not in her district or not providing we have a zip code of the reps area
Sometimes on here we have people calling just their their local rep when in fact that rep was going to vote our way anyway,
Hopefully I have explained this OK to be understood but if not i would be more than happy to explain more of how it could work.
I have talked to other freepers and they too thought it would be a great way to get organised on a mass scale
E-mails sent.
Brovo on the thread. Very good job. Keep up the good work.
STOP Porkulus Maximus!
Newt Gingrich has a good video here:

I sent an e-mail to each of my senators. Mine are pretty reliably conservative. Those Freepers in liberal states can do the most good in contacting their Senators.
This is my letter:
Please vote “No” on the Stimulus Bill
Senator X,
I hope you will vote no on the stimulus bill. Presidents Kennedy, Reagan and G.W. Bush cut taxes and successfully stimulated the economy. Presidents Hoover and Franklin Roosevelt both increased taxes. Their economic stimulus plans failed.
Perhaps the greatest economic turn around ever achieved was by President Reagan who cut taxes and partially deregulated the economy. Today’s recession has the fingerprints of government over regulation. This includes the Sarbanes-Oxley Mark to Market provision. It includes government policies that forced banks to make subprime loans. Evidence of the government’s role in the housing market includes the following video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ivmL-lXNy64
President Obama says that stimulus is spending. In effect, any government spending is stimulative. But government spending on welfare and other dubious programs will not stimulate the economy. The money will be spent today and will be gone tomorrow. We will be looking at a third major stimulus bill in another two or three months. We cannot afford this “stimulus” package, much less the next one and the one after that.
The current stimulus bill has the effect of further socializing America. The smart money understands. Investors, entrepreneurs and others will continue their blue flu. One weblog contained a letter from a business owner who was concerned about Democratic party control of the White House and Congress. He was convinced this meant the country would tilt towards socialism and his business ownership would be unrewarding and unsatisfying. Thinking ahead, he commenced his nine month plan to liquidate his business by March 2009. These people, and others, will dig in as consumers also. Decreased consumption and increased (uninvested) savings is a prudent way to address the lean times ahead.
Politicians have the power to expand government and contract the private sector. This can be done intentionally or inadvertently. Europeans have more socialism than do Americans. But double digit unemployment is permanent in Europe. Is that what we want? What will happen to the world economy when the United States adopts socialism? It may look a lot like the Hoover/Roosevelt depression. Although the economic costs of the depression were staggering, that was not the total cost. That depression also led to the rise of the great totalitarian murderers, Hitler, Stalin, and eventually Mao. History has a way of repeating itself. Will we now follow Roosevelt with a depression, or Reagan with a recovery?
Please recant your position on the current stimulus bill before the Senate and stand firm AGAINST the current stimulus bill IN ANY FORM.
It is not a stimulus bill, but a cynical attempt to use the current fiscal situation to pay off campaign promises and accelerate the agenda of centralization of power using a laundry list of the usual spending programs that should be addressed in a standard appropriations bill.
It will not stimulate the economy, but merely encumber the national debt with more expensive programs.
I don't need a little help to buy a new car, nor do I need another small "incentive rebate." In these times, I don't buy a car, I pay off my debt and try to put some in savings toward a further, sure-to-come economic disaster.
These are not normal times. Unshackle business by NOT passing more oppressive, expensive-to-implement regulations, end Sorbane-Oxley, reduce business taxes so that businesses can afford to expand creating jobs, don't attempt to create government jobs. Government needs to GET OUT OF THE WAY, and thereby enable entrepreneurial free market capitalism grow the economy. Thank you,
You are - of course - correct... However, putting pressure against spending on Fla Sen. Bill Nelson is like trying to teach your dog to love wild cats. :-/
Hope you and yours are well!
We need to add in the headline - help defeat the withholding of health care for the elderly portion of this bill. (or something like that)
There Is Only One Way to Handle the Three Republican Traitors. Remove them from the Republican party. How can this be done? Simple.
Contact every Republican office holder/official you can think of and let them know in certain terms that if any senator that votes for the stimulus package is not removed from the party that you will leave the Republican party.
I have not advocated forming a third party, but sometimes you reach a tipping point. If the Republicans can’t stand firm on the most important bill in our lifetime, if they can’t hold this line, then the Republican party is dead. D E A D dead.
Calling the three Republican traitors won’t do any good (they figure they’re safe in their own state, and that the Republican establishment will support them again come election time because they have an R by their name.)
Every single elected Republican official must be made to understand that if they let the three traitors get away with this, every Republican elected official will be punished. The ONLY way to do this is to make them understand that the party will fall apart if they don’t do something. The Republican Party is at the tipping point.
Let them know that the three traitors must be reigned in or kicked out of the party. If not, then you are leaving the party and not voting Republican again. Plain and simple.
If the Republican powers that be get this message from enough people, they will take action (and if they don’t, well then it is time for a new party.)
Just emailed both of my Senators and wrote a respectful short note. Tried to call but the phone mailbox of one was full.
I heard the mail, etc., about this was 10-to-1 against it.
Peaceful redress of grievances and right to petition.
Until they take that away.
Senator Collins will not empty her email box. I have had multiple email returned and I cannot get through to any of her many offices. If you guys get to her office please let her know that she should care what the people she represents think of the so called stimulus bill.
Thanks for being there for us. I will continue to contact the Demonrats.
We shouldn’t be worried about the three in name only Republicans.
We have to convince reasonable Demonrats that this bill is DISGRACEFUL!!
Oddly, I don’t see much posted at DU bout porkulus. Wonder why?
Isn’t it time to change the focus of this thread? The bill passed the senate - only thing left is to reconcile between the two versions which Reid seems to think will be easy...
Too late. All but a done deal now.
I contacted both my senators, Specter, Collins and Snowe.
But I’m in an extremely blue state.
I don’t often write, so maybe the fact that I spoke up now might have a greater effect.
Enough grains of sand make a whole beach!
Next is Sen. Martinez. I think he's okay, but I want to stiffen his enchilada a little.
Thanks for the links to the members of the House of Lords. Links are always invaluable in times like this.
