Who’s running against Spector? And is this person going to able to effectively communicate conservative principles so that they don’t get blown out by 15-20 points? I don’t know if Ed Rendell is running or not but the seat will be hard to keep (R) either way.

Rendell is in trouble at home on the states budget meltdown and his association with a paroled felon that shot and killed a police officer. My money would be on either Pat Toomey, who would have defeated Specter if it weren't for the RNC and Bush's support, or Rick Santorum...both of whom are true conservatives.

There were unsubstantiated rumors recently that Chris Matthews of Hardball fame would run for Specter's seat in 2010.
