Obama:
We're in the worst recession since the Great Depression! We've got to take this serious. We must be bold. I know, let's bbq up some pork. Let's have a pork bbq big enough to feed the entire nation. But why stop there? Let's really be bold and bbq up enough pork to feed the entire world!
I'm such a smart economist. All the rest of you only think you're economists.
Now go vote yes on my pork bbq.
Have a nice day.
You: Didn’t I hear some economic expert on Cavuto (maybe Neil himself) say that we are NOT in the worst recession of all time, and if things were left to themselves, the market etc. would fix itself in about a year to 18 months?!?
Me: Hence the reason the money will not go out until 18 months.
"Seldom"?...no.
Bush often gave speeches and held news conferences. It was the way the media covered him that made it appear like it was seldom.
Not that Bush wasn't to blame too. Bush's problem was that he never explained the common sense conservative approach very well.
I suggest everyone read The Plot to Seize the White House.
Don't agree. Never say never.
This is a young, inexperienced community organizer who cut his chops on the south side of Chicago. I am sure the crowds there really got riled up when 0bama would furrow his brow, tilt his chin up, and let the rhetoric fly. You tell it Brother!
Unfortunately for 0bama, the south side of Chicago is not representative of the USA.
Words matter. When POTUS gets in front of the entire nation and says we will have a “catastrophe” if we don't spend $1,000,000,000,000.00 of money we don't have, the public says no, that is not true. And he is panicking, because his entire life he has never had to face public critism. It seems the main credential he keeps falling back on is his campaign. A successful campaign does not a successful presidency make. I am less worried now about him now, as I think he is simply inept, rather than a sophisticated Machiavellian.
Now that is pure magic....LOL!
I was a smartass in school....I've got a little experience with the notion. :-)
you and me both then :) ... I just made dang sure that I had my facts straight when inevitably I WAS called out by the teacher.
Bingo.
His dad’s thesis was a socialists dream.
Even though we didn’t see Obama’s... I still can’t believe he took constitutional law... also not published.
If the Founders of this country had been scaremongers like Obama, we would never have had a country.
How did a ragtag bunch of revolutionaries fight off the huge British Army, Obama? Was it because George Washington, their general, stood before them and cried out about how hard it was going to be, and how hopeless?
Or did he build them up toward shedding blood for the freedom of all of them and generations to come (including you, Obama)?
As I recall, he rode on his beautiful horse BEFORE the troops into battle, putting HIMSELF FIRST into harm's way to INSPIRE the troops with his heroism. Now that is leadership.
The Shock Doctrine: The Rise of Disaster Capitalism (Paperback)
*************************EXCERPT******************************
by Naomi Klein (Author)
Editorial Reviews Amazon.com Review Naomi Klein's The Shock Doctrine advances a truly unnerving argument: historically, while people were reeling from natural disasters, wars and economic upheavals, savvy politicians and industry leaders nefariously implemented policies that would never have passed during less muddled times. As Klein demonstrates, this reprehensible game of bait-and-switch isn't just some relic from the bad old days. It's alive and well in contemporary society, and coming soon to a disaster area near you.

From Publishers Weekly The neo-liberal economic policiesprivatization, free trade, slashed social spendingthat the Chicago School and the economist Milton Friedman have foisted on the world are catastrophic in two senses, argues this vigorous polemic. Because their results are disastrousdepressions, mass poverty, private corporations looting public wealth, by the author's accountingtheir means must be cataclysmic, dependent on political upheavals and natural disasters as coercive pretexts for free-market reforms the public would normally reject. Journalist Klein (No Logo) chronicles decades of such disasters, including the Chicago School makeovers launched by South American coups; the corrupt sale of Russia's state economy to oligarchs following the collapse of the Soviet Union; the privatization of New Orleans's public schools after Katrina; and the seizure of wrecked fishing villages by resort developers after the Asian tsunami. Klein's economic and political analyses are not always meticulous. Likening free-market shock therapies to electroshock torture, she conflates every misdeed of right-wing dictatorships with their economic programs and paints a too simplistic picture of the Iraq conflict as a struggle over American-imposed neo-liberalism. Still, much of her critique hits home, as she demonstrates how free-market ideologues welcome, and provoke, the collapse of other people's economies. The result is a powerful populist indictment of economic orthodoxy. (Sept.)
