Apparently, President Barack Obama thought that Jessica Simpson's weight was something he needed to make fun of during his pre-Super Bowl interview with Matt Lauer on NBC Sunday. Seriously. Obama called Jessica Simpson a fatty on national TV.
Lauer displayed for the audience the cover of a recent issue of the tabloid entertainment magazine US Weekly that featured the President's wife and daughters and also had an insert photo pushing a story about singer Simpson.
As he viewed the cover, Obama decided to smack the singer down for "losing a weight battle."

I think people’s hatred for Obama is hurting their judgment here. The vitriolic reaction to Obama’s unoffensive statement (he didn’t call Jessica Simpson a fatty as the original post states) about one of the headlines on US Weekly cover magazine here lessons valid criticism of him. It’s like crying wolf.
Hmmm, the cover says "White House Mom" and has a picture of his wife and kids.
Open the mag, and the whole picture is there.
Obamaloon is a real piece of work, isn’t he!!
this tells me... we will have a fun 4 years..
HE!! HEE.. The wife left the TV on after she headed for the gym, and Okra was on. Okra is FAT. No excuses from me.
LOL! Good going!
Even still, the comment was foolish and this guy is President and shouldn’t be denigrating a private citizen with offhand remarks like that.
I’m no fan, don’t know her music but really she’s gotten as much mileage out of ability, no matter how limited it may be.
And she had a really rocking figure that was pretty tough to maintain at that level. So she put on a few pounds? Big deal. It’s not like she’s fat.
She is outright anorexic compared to Marilyn Monroe.
“In a weight battle.” Really, how would Obama like someone saying that about his wife?
“Our nation has deserted God and I am afraid we will suffer for it.”
My FRiend, there is already plenty of suffering in the land. The only question is how much more yet.
Well I hate to admit it but he did call that one right. Too bad he's so blind on everything else.
I should’ve expanded a bit. It looks as though he is reading a headline, as opposed to giving a spontaneous opinion. However, from what I’ve read before and as DrC noted, Obama may be practicing his method of seemingly innocuous tactlessness which is really public humiliation of a perceived threat. If other reports of his treatment of white students, his middle finger gestures, etc. are correct, he’s a manipulator of the worst sort.
Pathetically, what are the chances Jessica Simpson didn’t vote for him?
“Just like he was compelled to mention that hed be rooting for the Steelers since the owner made sizable contributions to his campaign.”
Yep, The Chicago Way in a nutshell. Blago’s only mistake was being so blatant about trading political favors for cash. Obama’s way more smooth. In the guise of joking around, he signals that he’s paying attention to whom makes donations and that his behavior (rooting for Steelers) is amenable to influence depending on the size of the contribution. This again is a situation where nothing “compelled” him to say anything about anybody’s political contributions, much less their size. Yet he chose to do so. Now that’s disciplined message-setting!
Speaking of that, did you hear something last night or this morning about Obama offering a Republican a job (doing?) and part of the package deal was he had to give his current position to a Dem? My husband heard it on our news but I haven’t found an article, yet.

Didn’t know if I should post it or not.
