Yes, I think you are right, he is actually a great pick.

My only point is that were it not for the stupid rule, we would have been able to say from the beginning that they must picked him for his skills. The existance of the rule caused there to be a question.

He has, of course, vindicated himself now, but I guess what I am getting at is that if you think that a coach is the best guy for the job, regardless of race, hire him. But dont require an interview process based on race, because it raises doubt as to why you hired him.

"Give me a break — this was a straight up game, no calls bad one way or the other."

This thread is too long to find all the opinions, but on Warner's last pass attempt, the "fumble", he was clearly throwing the ball forward, however awkwardly.

How could there not be a review on that?

Also when Harrison decided extended thuggery was the thing to do and they got penalized 10 inches (half the distance), I wanted to throw up.

I'd love to see a rule that penalizes personal fouls inside the 5 with a loss of a down plus the approriate inches.

Hopefully he'll get a suspension to start next season.

Not to mention that the questionable holding call in the endzone was the only reason they had a shot at all.

In all fairness, as a Steelers fan, when I saw the replay I though the official had no choice but the make the call -- most of the so-called "questionable" calls in the game look right, or at least justified, on replay.

Honestly, I thought the holding call could have gone either way but I do think it was a hold. However, the calls the whiners are picking on were the same way - on the borderline but most likely correct. We had a ton of calls like that against us too - like the Hartwig hold, the fact that Gandy held Harrison all freaking game and it wasn't called, the 1st Fitz TD (where the nose of the ball touched the turf, the Ben TD review, Ike's roughness penalty on Boldin, Harrison's choke slam (which was instigated by a punch to the nuts), and the first Warner fumble/incomplete pass (which arguably should have also been a fumble). However, (take note Seahawks fans) good teams overcome this like the Steelers did.

No, just a fond memory. Per Wikipedia:
After a proposed 1965 acquisition by Pittsburgh Brewing ran afoul of anti-trust laws, Duquesne Brewing was sold to C.L. Schmidt Brewing Company of Philadelphia, which closed the flagship plant in 1972 due to competition from national brands and labor problems.

The Duquesne Brewery clock, a Pittsburgh landmark, was the largest single face clock in the world when it was installed in 1933. The 60-foot-by-60-foot clock face is nearly twice the size of London's Big Ben.

The 1899 Duquesne Brewery building, located at Mary Street and 21st Street in the Southside Flats neighborhood, now is home to the Brew House Association, which provides housing, studio space, and a gallery for Pittsburgh artists. The adjacent new building has been partially restored but is currently vacant.

By the way - for posting that picture, the NFL has flagged the Arizona Cardinals with a 15-year personal foul penalty......

There, how's that? Some new hardware!!

On the first drive, 3rd and goal - why wasn’t Pittsburgh called for “assisting the runner” ?

A question my SB party talked about all night afterwards.

I don’t know. I have never seen it called in a Pro game and I only called it once myself in a school game at a lower level. The one I called was blatant, a kid grabbed the runner and pulled him into the end zone.

It wasn’t special in last year’s SB or in the one with the Steelers and the Sea Hags either.

Yep, our party too. Everyone also questioned the lack of official review for the last play, thought the refs were in the bag for the Steelers, and not a single one of us watched Bruce.

There were plenty of blown calls. How about Harris roughing up a blocker after the play? He should have been thrown out of the game. I can’t blame the refs too much. The play was chippy.

It’s too bad the officiating wasn’t on the same level as the play on the field. It was kind of appropriate that the game end on a disputed call. Maybe the NFL got the result they wanted.
