“The Steelers were not the most talented team in the NFL this year, but they played tough every game and reflected their coach.”

The NY Giants played the Steelers this year and it was a very good game. They showed they were a tough team and that helped get them to the top. Ironically, they bested a Cards team no one thought too much of but in the end, it was the toughness that got them over the top.

If they didn’t have that toughness they wouldn’t have made it to the 50, let alone the end zone on that final drive.

Somehow as much as I admire the Steelers, I feel like the Cards let it get away.

Maybe it’s because I’m sentimental for Kurt Warner. What an incredible story.
And he was awesome, again.

Guess folks will argue the fumble at the end and that’s the nature of things.
But even though I was rooting for Kurt Warner and the Cards, it’s a tough case to make that the ball was not a fumble.

He wanted to move his arm forward with the ball but he was so tangled up that he physically couldn’t do it. And the ball was not moving ahead aligned with his arm motion, it just sputtered out to the ground.

With what two seconds left, if that, it’s also difficult to say that with one play a miracle play would occur next.

Having said that, Kurt Warner was magnificent and a class act after the game.

Cardinal fans have reason to be really proud. It’s rare in defeat one can say that, but they can.

Rooney dont support communism, he is just a stupid old man that wants to be named envoy to Ireland. I pity him more than anything else because anyone who pimps his team to get this. He sees Obama as the way. Kind of sad, isnt it?
I support the Steelers but I dont own anything with the logo on it. My brother sent back his Terrible Towel and anything else with the logo to Steelers HQ explaining why he is doing it.

Don’t get me started on “Colts”. That refers to our long “cradle of racing” Thoroughbred history (chosen by fan vote). Indiana is not famous for any horses.

How did your link contradict it?

“In 1940 Rooney changed the team
name to the Pittsburgh Steelers,”

..then the new “Steelers”, during a swap of ownerships, moved to Philly and became Eagles (re-named Ironmen before the move, but changed to latter), etc. Then the Eagles came to Pitt and were themselves re-named the Steelers.

Check out the other link of the fan site. It’s very complex, and as our friend here said, there is lots of obfuscation going on to protect the precious Steeler history. The official history simply omits inconvenient info.

Nope.

Just poorly coached (not blitzing a rookie QB for the entire game? Duh!), plus we don’t have the NFL and its refs in our pockets. I guess they’ll sell a lot more championship gear if it has “Pittsburgh” on it than if it said “Arizona” or “Seattle.” Lots more money, you know?

By the way, for posting that picture of the Titans, the referees have flagged the Arizona Cardinals with a 15-yard personal foul penalty. And, they’re calling a fumble on Kurt Warner.

Yup.

Camps where we’ll all be told that the NFL has no vested interest in making sure their money team - the Steelers - wins instead of the Seahawks or Cardinals.

By the way - for posting that picture, the NFL has flagged the Arizona Cardinals with a 15-year personal foul penalty......

Didn’t really have a dog in this fight. That said, it was a ball to watch, we had a great SB party, everybody stayed glued to the Big Screen for the entire game.

Some very questionable calls by the refs. from Arizona curiously gaining a yard for first downs when it was pretty clear they didn’t make it, to some ticky tacky holding calls both ways.

Bottom line is the Steelers franchise is one of the all time best in ALL SPORTS.

Game was lost with Warners unfortunate goal line interception in hindsight. Before the game I said he had to throw for at least four touchdowns if the Cardinals were going to win.

3 TDs, 1 interception...and there you have it.

I was surprised Arizona’s offensive line played as well as it did, which is how the game was so close.

Money team? Are you aware of what a small market Pittsburgh is?

Give it a rest...it was a great game, and one of (if not) the best Super Bowls ever.

The Steeler Nation travels really well...and there are enough transplanted Yinzers all over the country to spur the local economy in any town the team plays. Even the NBC announcers said to was about 80 percent Black and Gold in the stands.

Not to mention that the questionable holding call in the endzone was the only reason they had a shot at all.

Funny, most of the Cardinals fans have been classy about the loss. The only sour grapes I’ve heard are from the fans of teams that choked somewhere on the way.
