THIS is the astonishing picture which could destroy the career of the greatest competitor in Olympic history.
In our exclusive photo Michael Phelps, who won a record EIGHT gold medals for swimming at the Beijing games last summer, draws from a bong.
The glass pipes are generally used to smoke cannabis.
And after sporting chiefs announced laws which mean four-year bans for drug-taking, Phelps dreams of adding to his overall 14 gold medal tally at the 2012 games in London could already be OVER.

Starting with preschool, teachers complained: Michael couldnt stay quiet at quiet time, Michael wouldnt sit at circle time, Michael didnt keep his hands to himself, Michael was giggling and laughing and nudging kids for attention.
As he entered public school, he displayed what his teachers called immature behavior. In kindergarten I was told by his teacher, Michael cant sit still, Michael cant be quiet, Michael cant focus, recalled Ms. Phelps, who was herself a teacher for 22 years. The family had recently moved, and she felt Michael might be frustrated because the kindergarten curriculum he was getting in the new district was similar to the pre-K curriculum in their old district.
I said, maybe hes bored, Ms. Phelps recalled saying to his teacher. Her comment to me Oh, hes not gifted. I told her I didnt say that, and she didnt like that much. I was a teacher myself so I didnt challenge her, I just said, What are you going to do to help him?
In the elementary grades at their suburban Baltimore school, Ms. Phelps said, Michael excelled in things he loved gym and hands-on lessons, like science experiments. He read on time, but didnt like to read, she said. So I gave him the Baltimore Sun sports pages, even if he just read the pictures and captions.
She will never forget one teachers comment: This woman says to me, Your son will never be able to focus on anything.
His grades were Bs and Cs and a few Ds.
The banana industry protests your rule.
Right, and considering the fact that he never shaved his head before..... would only make him look like he was trying to hide something! lol
That’s Kim Kardashian (spelling?) in the picture. Caroline Pal is Asian. I just checked. Never heard of her before.
I never shaved my head either... until the first time I shaved it. And he doesn’t have to shave it now... in fact, that would be counterproductive. Assuming that photo is actually him (which it might not be) and assuming he realizes that he shouldn’t smoke any more pot, he’s got a lot of time between now and the next testing to shave his head, get rid of the “bad hair” grow in some “good hair” and be ready for the test.
We are talking about a pretty serious amount of money at stake here. If he is guilty, he’d be a fool not to try to save his stake in future earnings.
But I agree with those who say it’s probably not him.
It’s probably not him.
Yes, I’ve read of his learning problems through other articles when they interviewed his mother in the past.
You can bet that his coach and others will be testing asap to disprove the rumor. Supposedly there is a new 4 year drug rule for the olympics, which would ruin his 2012 bid.
I don’t endorse toking weed, but that picture does NOT look like Michael Phelps. I don’t know either, but how do you know that this photo is real?
I’ve said earlier that I wasn’t convinced that it was him, and I asked another poster, what makes them say that it is NOT Phelps. They haven’t responded, so I’ll ask you, why YOU think it probably isn’t him?
Impossible, A while back several people here argued that he was gay........
Don’t Bogart that bong my friend, pass it over to me.
I don’t know that it’s not him. It might be him. I just think that this is the kind of “news” story where there is a lot to be gained by jumping to a conclusion, or even creating the semblance of a conclusion to jump to in the first place. I hate this kind of “news” so I’ll just say: it’s not him.
Someone else can go prove it’s him if they feel bound and determined to do that. I have nothing to prove. I’m just saying what I think: it’s not him.
And that’s what he should say, too.
“It’s not me.”
"Dude, you're losing your commercial contracts!"
I’m not one of the “marijuana rights” people here in FR and don’t care that much about that issue as it pertains to adults, though I am strongly against kids using the stuff.
But to ruin an ATHLETES career over smoking POT to me is the height of idiocy.
How are the OTHER athletes hurt if one athlete smokes pot? The answer is: they are not.
Pot will only diminish athletic performance. Without making any statement on “legalization” (which I don’t want to get into), I say to the olympic committee: screen for performance-enhancers and forget the rest.
It’s not that big of a deal. Heck, our esteemed messiah did worse at his age, and that hasn’t apparently stopped him from obtaining endorsements from the likes of the Socialists and the Communists and the NARAL and NOW and so on and so on...
First of all, I believe this story is bogus as hell.
But to address your comment, marijuana in only detected for up to 10 days following usage for an occasional user. For someone who smokes regularly it can be detected for up to 30 days after use.
So the next question should be what would define an occasional user.......
Unless RooR (can't make a backward R) makes penis enlargers, then that IS a bong.
