“Nah..Simpler. Repubs/Dems is faux politics...the RealPolitik is Washington/Americans....”
Brilliant observation...
so am I and if the north east went it’s own way I would lose no sleep what so ever
by rights the north east should be the most republican area but I had to live there for a bit and it seems all the catholics I met are big Dems no matter what
they go to church on a Sunday and then vote for everything their faith says it is against
talk about screwed up.
Finally some good news!
“You actually think Steele would vote against a Roberts or Alito?”
Probably not. But who knows? That jackass McCain initially said he wouldn't nominate someone like Justice Alito.
But the other side of the question is, would Mr. Steele vote AGAINST someone like Ms. Ginsburg?
And just as importantly, would Mr. Steele CHAMPION someone like Mr. Alito or Mr. Roberts? Especially if they refused to say that Roe should be upheld, and he were backed into a corner on national TV, and blurted out some dumbass remark like, “We should follow stare decisis on Roe.”
Oh wait, he actually did say that, didn't he. LOL.
Of course, the Supreme Tyrants are not the only way to get rid of Roe.
The Congress could pass a constitutional amendment and send it to the states. That's something in which a Senator would be involved directly. But Mr. Steele shot that down during the same Meet the Press event as when he accepted Roe.
The Congress could also pass legislation denying to the courts jurisdiction on cases of abortion, and then pass a federal law saying that life begins at conception. But Mr. Steele said that the question of abortion is “RIGHTLY” belonging to the Supreme Court. So that would seem to rule that out.
Ultimately, as long as the central holdings of Roe and Doe hold, unborn children will never be protected in law.
And that's what this ultimately all about - preventing the legal massacre of over 1,000,000 children per year.
“All I have to say is you are going to look like a fool if you leave the Party and Steele hammers away at abortion.”
Well, I promise you that I've done more foolish things in my life. If he comes out and forcefully says Roe must go, then I'll rejoin the party.
But if he comes out with a lot of namby-pamby baloney, and dances around the question or Roe, then I'll know that I was right.
“Steele bungled the segment got caught off gauard whatever.”
The jackass McCain bungled the same question in 1999. And within two weeks, had retracted his idiocy and reaffirmed his opposition to Roe.
“The GOP is the only political vehicle in which you will have a chance to overturn Roe...”
Not if its chairman AFFIRMS that Roe should stand.
“...(something Steele agrees with you on but you are too unwilling to see it).”
Sorry, but the actual words of the man contradiction what you're saying. He's said that Roe should stay.
Unlike you, I take the man at his word.
“If you go out into the wilderness you are weakening your cause. We need to stick together.”
I hate to tell you, brother, we're already IN the wilderness.
What would strengthen our cause would be if we all recognized that fact and actually DID stick together. Where we actually are right now. Which is the wilderness.

married a yankees fro MA , got her out , our kids fly the stars and bars proudly and now my wife does
she calls herself an adopted southern gal
the mother in law is another matter though and yes she is coming down here on Monday.
Shes the typical north easy MA Dem voting catholic who has no clue what she is voting for but my kids will meet her with the battle flag flying at the airport
their idea not mine
breakfast for her will be grits too
I'll take the on-the-record televised actual words of the man over a summary of a private conversation reported by a third party.
If Mr. Steele wants to be taken seriously again as a pro-lifer, he needs to be loud and proud about the fact that Roe must go.

“”Well also recruit candidates who can cross the ethnic, gender, and demographic divides that too often separate our country and cause confusion about our Party.” - Michael Steele “
If they share conservative values, then of course they are welcome in the party. Unfortunately, the Dems seem to have made themselves into the savior of everyone-—blacks, hispanics , women, “poor”, etc. The Dems have marginalized the Republicans into the party of the white guys. We need to educate people as far as what our values are. Hope Mr. Steele can be a leader in this regard.
So now tell me after having read the above quote that Steele, a devout Mass-going Catholic, by report a daily communicant, a Knight, a former seminarian, anti-ESCR, endorsed by Nat’l Right to Life, who’ve attested that he “clearly...supports protection for unborn children in law...[and] the reversal of the Roe v. Wade...decision” that he based on one segment of one debate that either he’s
A) the greatest pro-life fraud in history
OR,
B) simply bungled the debate, for numerous reasons, by not clearly stating his true position.
Gee I dunno...
If that’s hard for you to figure out then you have a problem.
no way will he make catholics or most of them vote GOP
My mother in law is one of them and she will never vote GOP ever.
church on Sunday
Dem on a Monday
just like most of the in MA
I found that while my state was up in MA it was like talking to a wall when it comes to union.
they’re all union it seems.
Congratulations Mr Steele! A conservative man that I will follow.

my wife is form quincy and I lived there and weymouth with her for some time but I got her to escape to the south
where are you if you do not mind me asking?>
Interesting. I'd still like to see hime directly quoted on the issue. Better yet, let's see what he has to say now that he's chairman.
I’ve now clearly stated my position and your problem in post 510. I always thought you an ally on the pro-life cause but in my opinion you unwittingly hurt the cause through your own self-delusion.
Catholics have a saying: “whole life, pro life.” You need to look at the whole man - but you don’t want to, for some reason known only to you insist on clinging to 25 seconds of some 2-1/2 year old debate segment for reasons known only to you where in the same debate he is hammering for the cause of life in embryonic stem cell research, ironically, being the first and only known politician in history to do so (I’d say like a Nazi declaring he’s a Semite, too).
With all the reasons I’ve provided looking at the whole man I suppose somehow you could find a way to say the Pope wasn’t pro-life either. Somehow...
Me too. So far most seem willing to give him that chance.
“Not if its chairman AFFIRMS that Roe should stand.”
I’ll bet you a hundred bucks Steele does not affirm Roe as Chairman. You wouldn’t dare take me up on it.
This will be interesting. The left is going to demonize Mr. Steele, while trying to keep Pres. Obama propped up as the One.I think,as time goes on,you will see people abandoning the left as Mr.Steele shows how a TRUE man of integrity acts,as opposed to a person who must keep up a false persona to maintain power.
Mr. Steele........have as much of that in your spine (and soul) as in your name. Go get ‘em!
