Kudos to you Michael. Now stand tall and proud. Be strong and push conservative principles. Do not falter and do not shrink from the fight against Obama and the Democrats.

As I’ve often noted, don’t know if Romney would have won, but he would have had a coherent, sound, response on that day in September.

I agree that Romney would have been a better candidate than McCain, for a whole host of reasons, but would he have been a champion of conservative causes? Highly doubtful. With regards to the tendencies toward socialism and greater government, Romney would have been a more articulate George Bush.

I don’t buy your premise, so, no.

Dean ran a 50 state strategy we all made fun of him but guess what? We can win - if you are a conservative you should believe your values resonate. Why not everywhere? Conservatives can win in the NE - yes! Let’s try.

Dear Norman Bates,

I'm pretty sure that former RNC Chairman Ed Gillespie is also Catholic. At least, he graduated from the Catholic University of America (my own alma mater). He was RNC Chairman during part of the time when Terry McAuliffe was DNC Chairman. Both are graduates of CUA.

It has to be a female for the Vice Chair. Last time under President Bush, the RNC didn’t follow party rules. Be interested to see who the female pick is this time.

Chair/Vice Chair have to be male/female

As for Deputy — until we had Martinez/Duncan that didn’t happen. I would expect Steele to be a working Chair until Martinez.

Steele and Blackwell were both outside the RNC and hope everyone they pick is also on the outside and then they can truly clean house.

The very day that McCain was announced as the winner of the primaries, was the day that I knew we had lost the election.

Sarah Palin just did not fit in well with him. She had to stifle her Conservative instincts to satisfy the RNC crowd.

Steele is well aware of the sentiments of the Conservative base as well as those who have left the Party. Some of the beliefs that Steele has, I like. He does get too moderate at times which gives me some concern.

I only hope he can draw the Party back together and he will have to do that without the Moderate ideology, or better said, the lack thereof.

Time will tell is all I can say at the moment. So I reserve my enthusiasm for that time and day.

I am not anti-Catholic. I'm saying that if you want to claim Steele because he's Catholic, you're also going to have to claim Kennedy, Pelosi, Kerry, etc.

********************

Exactly right. I'm Catholic, but I don't base my vote on anyone's religion.

To most Catholic voters, their take on the redistribution of wealth trumps their prolife views. They consider the fact that a Democrat politician is willing to take from one and give to another more virtuous than being prolife.

Again, do not misinterpret my statement to be anti-Catholic. I am only stating a fact.

There are also many Catholic union members who vote the Democrat party line.

Not a Noob freak, just a new name because I moved to the beautiful state of Utah. Been here since March of 2006 under “jrooney”. Never been banned and got the okay from the mods before switching names. Funny thing about those like you that push the noob label, you are a noob to freepers that have been here longer than you too. Length of time means squat and it does not mean you have any sense either. Look at Kennedy and Kerry.

Why do you think that Steele got more support than Blackwell? Do you think that it’s because of Steele’s appearances on FOX?

None of that means a thing in the light of the fact that the Republican Party is now a second liberal party. That’s a historic shift that realistic people are going to have to respond to accordingly to, no matter what the precedent or their subjective opinion of the likelihood of success.

Conservatives can build, build, build...organize, organize, organize in the GOP. But if, in the end, you’ve only done it to help freeze conservatives into supporting what they detest, I want no part of it.

Anyone who can’t now see that this is exactly what is happening is fooling themselves.

Third Party loons is right!

I was torn between Blackwell and Steele — either one satisfied what I was looking for in not have an RNC type be the Chair. Thought Martinez was a terrible pick with Duncan running the RNC and then Martinez left and Duncan quietly took over. Bad choice to run RNC.

A new day and going to start back up my monthly with Steele heading the new RNC.

Did you hear the speech? He mentioned conservatism several times. Moderate or liberal never escaped his lips. If he went on Hannity tonight and said GOPers need to stand up for conservatism and Life you would even then believe him would you? I know many here won’t every believe it.
