Kudos to you Michael. Now stand tall and proud. Be strong and push conservative principles. Do not falter and do not shrink from the fight against Obama and the Democrats.

Can't your guy take any scrutiny? Seems odd, don't you think?

SO true! I married a yankee from RI (it’s OK, my son bleeds stars and bars) and his dad, the life-long dem, was as racist as they come - and not just with blacks but you name it, he dissed them.

I heard that Medved was pushing for him so that makes me a little nervous.

On the other hand, Blackwell threw his support behind Steele after he dropped earlier today and I trust Ken’s judgment.. I am on record though saying Steele is way too moderate and wobbly.. but it could be way worse..

He said stare decisis should hold Roe V Wade as law. This, absent there being even a tangential passage in the Constitution giving the Fedgov authority in this area. Coupled with some of his other stances, it's cause for concern.

He's better than some of the other alternatives, but he's not exactly pristine either. We saw what that got us with McIdiot.

‘Your argument is that demanding more conservatism got us a more liberal candidate. I’m sure you can see the flaw in that argument fairly easily. ‘

My ‘arguement’ never included ‘demanding more conservativism’.

I do note Conservativism wins election cycles, milktoast Moderates lose, see the tag line.

My choice this time around was Romney, due to his CEO experience which was successful, and dwarfed anyone else’s in either party’s primary runs. I backed him not because he was a uber Conservative - clearly he isn’t - but because I thought he was the best man for the job as described.

Result? He was trashed because he was a Mormon all over this site, and many others. Then he was accused of being a RINO because he worked within the liberal system of the state he led.

And when the ‘moment’ came when the last election was actually decided (September 15th, 2008) we had bumbling McCain who’s reaction to the economic implosion was ‘Fire Chris Cox, get rid of earmarks’....(eyes rolling)

As I’ve often noted, don’t know if Romney would have won, but he would have had a coherent, sound, response on that day in September.

I’m not crying over which liberal the Republican Party chooses. I save my tears for the country and the Constitution that the compromisers are helping destroy.

The trolls are out in full force. First it was the Messiah calling out Rush Limbaugh, then Sarah Palin forming a PAC and now Michael Steele becoming GOP chairman. The Messiah had a bad week and they know it.

I am delighted for Michael Steele AND the RNC.

He holds all the ‘right’ positions, and has the exoeruebcem wit, charm, intelligence, integrity, and energy we need now for the party rebuilding. Excellent choice.

He fills in frequently as host for Bill Bennett’s 3-hour morning show which I rarely miss, and I have never heard him voice an opinion on issues that weren’t in line with my conservative beliefs. There was a hard campaign for this position and I suspect that, politics being what it is, a good bit of mud was speckled about in the effort. Truth is, we were fortunate to have a strong field of very good nominees from which to choose.

Congratulations Michael. You weren’t my first choice this morning but you are now. This is a good move for the GOP.

What religion are you? I am Catholic and pardon me for being a little thrilled to see my coreligionist for what I know as the first time to thold the chair. Appealing to religious groups does matter a great deal.

John McCain did not do enough to make the life issue to appeal to Catholics. Those Catholics ought to have known better but if you don’t throw a bone you can’t complain (plus the economic crisis killed him). Catholics are well aligned with the GOP on life and many other issues and Steele has the credibility and ability to communicate that to Catholics and all Americans.

My benchmark has always been the Constitution and a candidates understanding of it.

As such, McCain, Willard, Rudy, and even Chairmen Steele fail. Hunter, Palin, Tancredo, McClintock at least get passing grades.

As I've stated, Steele may do a good job. But he deserves watching. We've been burned a LOT lately. Doesn't pay to keep making the same mistakes over and over again...

IIRC the largest group of devout AA are Baptist, second is Catholic....It's a start in driving a wedge between the DNC and their assumed voting block.

I think its fair to point out we out “blacked” them since Obama’s only half black/white.

So THERE! (this is in jest)
