Dawson 62 Steele 60 Anuzis 32 Blackwell 15
Steele has always been iffy on gun issues.
Steele is neither pro-choice nor anti-gun.
Who cares...as long as we know why we are doing what is best for us. The RNC chair is not running for POTUS.
Q: Your views on gun control?
A: My views are pretty much in line with the governor's. I grew up under some of the strictest gun control laws in the country. You can have all the gun control laws in the country, but if you don't enforce them, people are going to find a way to protect themselves. We need to recognize that bad people are doing bad things with these weapons. It's not the law-abiding citizens, it's not the person who uses it as a hobby.
Personally I can’t stand any of us using the term african American since Steele and 99.9% of the rest of the blacks NEVER LIVED IN AFRICA.
I’m white, they’re black. End of story.
I don’t relaly know how effective Rove was. Bush got 9 and 11% of the black vote respectively. And that was without a black guy as an opponent. If Obama, or some other black guy was running in 2000 or 2004, I doubt Bush would have done any better than McCain did with blacks. Conversely, if there was a white guy or Hillary running against McCain, he would have done the same as Bush did with blacks.
It was the black guy at the top that pumoed the numbers, not anything McCain or the GOP did.
As for Latinos, McCain is as pro-hispanic as you can get. It was the economy and the backlash over immigration that led to the drop, combined with the fact that Bush probably gained a bit from his time in TX and Jeb’s connections in FL. McCain actually did 8 pts better than Bush among Hispanics in CO for instance, and still lost because he did worse among whites.
I would agree in a change to the way we elect presidents if we did away with the primaries altogether and held the election with however many number or people on the ticket. The two candidates who got the most votes would then have a runoff.
Thanks,I just read that he is anti stem cell and a Catholic.
No my dear - Steele is a devout mass-going Catholic, pro-life, and a Knight of Columbus. He’s great!!
oh well he’ the best one left.
Too hot a potato, but as between a black guy that acts white and a white guy that acts white...the latter is the loser in this country.
Michael Steele is 100% pro-life. He went as far as publicly opposing federal funding for embryonic stem-cell research while running for the U.S. Senate from Maryland. Maryland! Now that’s someone who sticks to his guns on his opposition to abortion.
OK,I hope he wins.
“I was under the impression the whites-only thing was from the deed 80+ yrs ago and Dawson had no knowledge of it and as soon as he found out, hel eft the club immediately and implored it to change the policy. Unlike someone else who stayed in his club for 20+ yrs knowing full well the racism and bigotry of its leader.”
Dawson was in the country club for 12+ years before he resigned. It sounds an awful lot like the Obama/Wright situation if you ask me. We don’t need those kinds of people leading our party (or in the case of Obama, our country). All of that crap should be gone by now. It’s history.
the term African American is an oxymoron.
>>No my dear - Steele is a devout mass-going Catholic, pro-life, and a Knight of Columbus. Hes great!!<<
Fox is calling him a moderate but an excellent fund raiser.
They said the main knock on him is that he’s not actually a member.
I want Steele to win because I think he would be the best to head the RNC. Period.
Him being black has zero to do with why I want him to win!
I love watching it live too. I know people in the room and they’re tweeting that Steele has it now.
This is going to be an interesting 4 years.
I hope this is it.
