So what if he did? Has Jeremiah Wright apologized for being a racist?

I agree. Because Jeremiah Wright hasn't apologized for being a racist, we should select a whites-only country club member for RNC Chair.

2012 here we come!

In other words you are asking for trouble by making a free decision.

Don’t know how to break this to you folks but republicans are not getting any black votes for the next 8 years. I like Michael Steele and even like the idea of him being an African American and a good party chairman.

But worrying about losing the already lost black vote or the white liberal vote is a non issue at this time.

I’m sick of being held to a double standard.

When the national council of the Race, err, Raza dissolves itself I’ll care about what country club Dawson goes to.

Then again Saul could endorse Dawson (doubtful).

Since Blackwell supported Steele, I can’t imagine Steele not getting it in this 5th round.

I have too and concur. My friend and I spoke to him for two-hours. He is John Hopkins educated (advanced degree Economics & Finance) and no dummy.

Wasn’t it the DNC that rejected the brother of a slain civil rights leader in favor of a white guy? Maybe Dean?
They don’t have much room to talk.

I love Steele and would be thrilled if he got the Chairmanship. It helps for image purposes, I suppose, that he’s black, but more important he’s bright, quick, energetic, funny, and can nail the Dems in a NY minute. He also ran the best/funniest campaign I’ve ever seen when he went for MD gov. He comes from a very educated, successful family.

“Because Jeremiah Wright hasn’t apologized for being a racist....”

To Hell with Rev Wright it’s Barack Obama who needs tto apologize for being a racist as a Wright supporter and for the racist “prayer” at the innsugaration.

I hope Steele wins I like him.

"I think it’s obvious the best way for Republicans to take back power in the 21st century is to elect a guy who has been a member of a whites-only country club.

Sometime the GOP just can't get out of their own way. I have some issues with Steele, but all things considered, it would make a great statement to have an African American lead our party. As for "identity politics". Unfortunately, it works. I hope that people come to their senses and elect Steele.

I think that's Chip Saltsman. Dawson belonged to the all-white country club. Either way, it's reinforcing an unfortunate stereotype. Messenger matters people...I would have thought the last election would have taught us that.

I hope it's Steele. Warts and all.

Unfortunately, it works.

Identity politics does not work for Republicans, it didn’t work for McCain in 2008 or the GOP in 2006 with the amnesty offensive.

I’m, all in for Mike Steele. Besides that he is the best qualified of those standing, Dawson has a background that lends itself to cries of elitist and racism.

I, for one, don’t want a racist, or a perceived racist, representing me or the party I vote for.
