I like Steele. Very amicable person, pretty sharp, and right on the issues. One reservation is that I have seen him several times on Hannity’s show and he doesn’t think as fast on his feet as I would like - dosn’t come up with the killer argument that would destroy the opposition. The best that I have seen at this recently, and I know he isn’t in the running, is Romney.

The problem with Steele is that he will be seen as a “me-to” Obama knock-off.

I wish he would just change his skin color.

Is that too much to ask?

McCain was no messenger but he also was NOT a Conservative.

"You’ll never win the minority vote in the age of Obama no matter if we select Martin Luther King’s ghost to be chairman.

We never will win the minority vote - but, it's not about winning it, it's about shaving a few points off. Karl Rove understood this (Karl Rove haters hold you comments) and was quite effective in denting the black and Hispanic voting margins held for years by the Dummies.

The country is browning at a significant pace. If Republicans can't find a way to reach out and connect with African Americans and Latinos, we will never win the Presidency again. And, we may never have a majority in the Senate or House again either.

I support Steele but identity politics is a cancer on America. Look at Colin Powell “warning” the GOP that whites will be a minority soon. That attitude sure sounds like a plan for horrible racial conflicts to come.

Won’t it be grand when whites are a large persecuted minority because they are treated as racists. Prescription for disaster.

Michael Jackson could help him with that.

“I love Steele and would be thrilled if he got the Chairmanship. It helps for image purposes, I suppose, that he’s black, but more important he’s bright, quick, energetic, funny, and can nail the Dems in a NY minute. He also ran the best/funniest campaign I’ve ever seen when he went for MD gov. He comes from a very educated, successful family.”

Just what we need. A pro choice, anti-gun chairman. I’m sick of F’in rinos running the party!

Not voting for a racist isn’t reaching out.

Racism is not a Conservative principle, therefore those who are so, or have links to those who are, are not welcome.

Well, if he could do so, exactly which color should he choose? Personally, I like red.

Ken Blackwell has withdrawn, and is supporting Steele

we are down to 3 people now...

This is very good news for Michael Steele and the future of the GOP. Blackwell, the smartest of the bunch, recognizes that Steele’s PR skills are exactly what the party needs.

Just turned on TV to this and what i want to know is:

-where are all the ebonics speaking people?

-where’s the bling bling and gold teeth?

-the men are wearing suits and ties?

-why arent they dancing and screaming and listening to soul music?

never mind, we will find a way to survive without the vote fraud perps.

...well, I know its too much to ask to have a conservative that's a good communicator, so give me something. Steele is the better choice. Why would elect someone who will be instantly marginalized? Instantly on the defensive?

What a laugh. Republicans participated in the dem plan to change America with a flood of illegal immigrants and legal immigration that favors minorities. Then you think these minorities are going to magically vote republican and that republicans will remain a conservative party.

I’m laughing so hard I’m crying or maybe crying till I laugh.

Democrats get almost 100% of the black vote and a super majority of hispanics, but republicans wouldn’;t dare appeal to white voters that would be racist. Oy.
