Limbaugh Responds to Obama
National Review ^ | 1/24/09 | Byron York

Posted on 01/24/2009 1:06:04 PM PST by JRochelle

According to an account in the New York Post, President Barack Obama yesterday told Republican leaders, "You can't just listen to Rush Limbaugh and get things done." With George W. Bush now off the stage, it may be that Obama and some of his fellow Democrats view Limbaugh, and not John Boehner, Mitch McConnell, or any other elected official, as the true leader of the Republican opposition. This morning I asked Rush for his thoughts on all this, and here is his response:

There are two things going on here. One prong of the Great Unifier's plan is to isolate elected Republicans from their voters and supporters by making the argument about me and not about his plan. He is hoping that these Republicans will also publicly denounce me and thus marginalize me. And who knows? Are ideological and philosophical ties enough to keep the GOP loyal to their voters? Meanwhile, the effort to foist all blame for this mess on the private sector continues unabated when most of the blame for this current debacle can be laid at the feet of the Congress and a couple of former presidents. And there is a strategic reason for this.

Secondly, here is a combo quote from the meeting:

"If we don't get this done we (the Democrats) could lose seats and I could lose re-election. But we can't let people like Rush Limbaugh stall this. That's how things don't get done in this town."

To make the argument about me instead of his plan makes sense from his perspective. Obama's plan would buy votes for the Democrat Party, in the same way FDR's New Deal established majority power for 50 years of Democrat rule, and it would also simultaneously seriously damage any hope of future tax cuts. It would allow a majority of American voters to guarantee no taxes for themselves going forward. It would burden the private sector and put the public sector in permanent and firm control of the economy. Put simply, I believe his stimulus is aimed at re-establishing "eternal" power for the Democrat Party rather than stimulating the economy because anyone with a brain knows this is NOT how you stimulate the economy. If I can be made to serve as a distraction, then there is that much less time debating the merits of this TRILLION dollar debacle.

Obama was angry that Merrill Lynch used $1.2 million of TARP money to remodel an executive suite. Excuse me, but didn't Merrill have to hire a decorator and contractor? Didn't they have to buy the new furnishings? What's the difference in that and Merrill loaning that money to a decorator, contractor and goods supplier to remodel Warren Buffet's office? Either way, stimulus in the private sector occurs. Are we really at the point where the bad PR of Merrill getting a redecorated office in the process is reason to smear them? How much money will the Obamas spend redecorating the White House residence? Whose money will be spent? I have no problem with the Obamas redoing the place. It is tradition. 600 private jets flown by rich Democrats flew into the Inauguration. That's fine but the auto execs using theirs is a crime? In both instances, the people on those jets arrived in Washington wanting something from Washington, not just good will.

If I can be made to serve as a distraction, then there is that much less time debating the merits of the trillion dollar debacle.

One more thing, Byron. Your publication and website have documented Obama's ties to the teachings of Saul Alinksy while he was community organizing in Chicago. Here is Rule 13 of Alinksy's Rules for Radicals:

"Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it."

Obama is bringing a pea shooter to gun fight.

That is dangerously dismissive.

Of course money is fungible, so who’s to say it was an expenditure they made with TARP or non-TARP money. But there is a difference between Merrill’s spending the money on their offices and the money being loaned as, as the loan would be on a fractional reserve system and thus more money would enter the economy via that means.

Limbaugh will serve Obammy’s purpose quite nicely since Rush is clueless to his own egomania....

Aren’t you confusing Limbaugh with the likes of Savage? Rush recognizes and acknowledges his ego. Savage and his ego are inseparable, insufferable, and a textbook example of ego-centric mania as evidenced by Savage’s need to remind averyone that hasn’t already heard of his PhD. in what? Nutrition.

Rush will continue to run rings around Obama and the weeks ahead will prove that intellect trumps liberals every time it’s applied.

I don’t think Rush was attempting to justify ML’s expenditure of TARP funds. I think he was pointing out the absurdity of Obama’s anger about it under the circumstances that he mentioned.

“Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it.”

And, the MSM is willing to play along. Ask Sarah.

That is essentially what I was going to post. GOOD job...

This has been their M.O., and they have managed to ostracize BJ Clinton, G Ferraro, and Palin along he way.

You can’t just watch ABC, CBS, PMS, NBC, The View, Rachel Maddow, Kieth Olbermann and any of the late night talk show hosts and get things done either...

Obama is ruling by decree...

So let it be written, So let it be done.

Perhaps you didn’t read Rush’s comments about Obama trying to use him as a distraction.

Rush knows exactly what Obama is attempting.

The Republicans do have a plan. They brought it to the meeting with Zero. His response was that he won and that trumps their plan. The Repubs have got to make public all the crazy things in the Stimulus Bill like the millions to be spent on contraceptives. I think that would help a great deal to kill the bill!

You are totally missing the point. I would never doubt Rush is more intelligent than Obammy. The focus is not on intellects in opposition, the focus is upon masses of people to be manipulated. While Rush is exercising his intellect--to massage his own ego, Obama will be issuing statements in various fifth column outlets which appeal tot eh emotional reaction of his sycophancy. While Rush is focusing on trying to explain a complex issue, Obama will have his minions appealing to the 'fate of workers in need of more power over the greedy industry bosses'. While Rush is explaining how expanding government never builds a free economy, Obama will play him for an elite as Obama expands the number of 'workers beholden to the government paycheck and benefits provided through taxpayer funding.'

Ask yourself, witht he average American, which will get their attention faster, an intellectual argument or a meal for an growling tummy? Does the abstract concept of Constitutional Republic mean more to a mother of three than a steady paycheck and routine for living in relative safety?

But, I thought Obama said it wasn't about him, it was about us. Did he not really mean that?

The ads have been on for years...

"It's all about the 'O'..."

Yes, Rush knows because he is much smarter than Obama. BUT, does Rush know how to negate the ‘freezing’ and polarizing happening to readers at FR as we write these posts? I don’t thnk so, but we shall see in the coming weeks.

Ask yourself how many Obama voters Rush will convert as he points to the truth of Obama’s Alinskyesque methods? Obama voters haven't a clue, they just react to their worshipped leader's lead.

Well, I'll guarantee thare will be more Obama and non-Obama voters listening to Rush on Monday. The uninformed will have more of a chance at learning a thing or two.

The grass roots of the conservative party have done far more to bloody Obama (politically, that is), than the politicians in Congress.
Hannity - Reverend Wright
Rush - Operation Chaos
Joe the Plumber - Spread the wealth comments

It's time for people to start calling their congressmen/women and ask about Obama's statement: ""If we don't get this done we (the Democrats) could lose seats and I could lose re-election. But we can't let people like Rush Limbaugh stall this. That's how things don't get done in this town."

The economy is spiralling and Obama cares about his RE-ELECTION?

Rush is very vulnerable. Remember how quickly people abandoned him when his medical problem was exposed and his subsequent prescription drug abuse? If Limabaugh ever reached a point where he could not be used and could harm Obammy, Rhambo would see to it that another ‘incident’ took out Limbaugh’s creds. To the criminal democrat enterprise/Marxist wave, you don’t silence a man like Rush Limbaugh, you shame him if you cannot use him.

I don’t think Obama actually said that. I believe that was Rush paraphrasing/summarizing Obama’s remarks.
