i think this presidency is going to be a disaster for conservatism in genearl, but as far as speeches go, i don’t give a hoot and get tired of reading all the crud written trying to analyze them, this one included. Who cares? It is bread and circuses, and if you want to believe the charade, go ahead. Everything about this administration so far says corrupt as hell and clinton III.

I care about policy, appointments, legislation passed, etc.

I do not care if he can write a speech or not. The best example I can name of a major speech is the gettysburg address, mainly because it was so short.

The head “Yes we can!” days of 2007 are gone forever.

The cry is now "Oh, crap, we did! Now what do we do?"

Of course Buchanan loved it... He knows Obama won’t back Israel so his little Isolationist wetdream can be fulfilled by a crypto-Muslim. Hooray.

Gergen didn’t get a thrill running up his leg like Chris Matthews? I guess Bam Bam’s speech really did suck.

“Waa Gergen wearing a black armband? His such a sell-out to everything liberal, I thought he might be in mourning over the speech flop.”

Gergen? No he is a staunch Conservative. As is Bill Maher.

Remember folks, these people are going to need jobs for the next four years.

I like it when Rush calls him David “Rhodam” Gergen.

The speech was underwhelming to say the least. It doesn’t make the top 10 of his speeches during the campaign.

I doubt it, but wouldn’t that be amazing if they did.

I’m betting we will be surprised by some things akin (but not as severe) to this at some point.

Gergen should be prosecuted for this.

No surprises here.

Seems the folks he admired most blew themselves up building bombs.

Speaking of which, does the little zer0 have any hobbies?

Na, they are just exhausted over their week long inauguration orgasm, their just laying back smoking a cig, after a nap....it will be a wondrous, glorious, historical speech again.

Early in his speech, Obama said:
“Forty-four Americans have now taken the presidential oath.”
Actually, only 43 Americans have taken the presidential oath. No, not because Obama was born in Kenya.

From Wikipedia: “There have been 43 people sworn into office, and 44 Presidencies, due to the fact that Grover Cleveland served two non-consecutive terms and is counted chronologically as both the 22nd and the 24th President.”

This is a minor point, to be sure. It certainly isn’t as important as Dan Quayle’s misspelling of “potato.” I wonder if any of the mainstream media will point this out.

I have no use for Peggy Noonan, not since I heard that open mike comment that demonstrated beyond any doubt she’s a rank hypocrite, and has just been playing a ‘role’ on television, and in her columns.

She was on MSNBC this morning. I immediately changed the channel, as I always do when she is on.

“Reagan speech writer” Peggy Noonan is going to be conflicted. On the one hand, she wants to go the WH parties, on the other, she has an ego and reputation...

"It was not as lofty as I would have anticipated," said Gergen...

Then you should have lowered your expectations to meet the true level of the man. I know didn't even bother to listen to one single "Uh"...

The speech was as forgettable as yesterday's weather report.
