David Gergen says Obama's inaugural speech was not 'one for the ages' 10:40 AM PT, Jan 20 2009 CNN senior political analyst David Gergen sounded a bit let down by President Barack Obama's inaugural speech.
"It was not as lofty as I would have anticipated," said Gergen, noting that Obama had visited sites such as the Lincoln Memorial for inspiration. He said that while previous presidents had given inaugural speeches "speaking to the ages," Obama's speech "was speaking to this generation. It was very rooted in the here and now."

You know the speech sucked when David Rodham Gergen doesn’t gush over it.
He does serve as a good temperature gauge on how the MSM is reacting to The Speech, however. They seem to be underwhelmed.

you are correct. He was an Obama sycophant, probably in hopes of getting a position. Now that he was denied, he will probably turn into a critic. Just like Peggy Noonan and Bush.

That’s a fair observation. The MSM built this guy up, and if they want they can bring him down. Criticism of this guy in any form from the MSM, is going to be a very strange thing to behold. We may see some incredibly strange dynamics out of the MSM over the next few years. They bought and paid for this guy, and now he is hung around their necks no matter what he does.
