Dear XXXX:
After making them suffer two long and painful years in solitary confinement in a maximum security prison, President Bush, on his very last day of office, having received more than five million emails, letters, postcards and telephone calls from citizens all across the country, finally commuted the sentences of Ignacio "Nacho" Ramos and Jose Compean, two brave and decorated Border Patrol agents, improperly charged with the non-crime of using a firearm as they stopped a drug dealer from bringing in more than 700 pounds of narrcotics into the U.S.
Please accept my thanks for your great effort in working for the release of these two men who can now reunite with their families and begin their lives over again.

Because Bush (unlike Clinton) believes in the rule of law. Ramos & Compean committed a crime when they covered up evidence at the scene. Commutation was the right gesture.
Because someone tried to kill them as soon as they went to prison, also it helped the Government while they were in solitary because they could limit access by the press.
Another one who hasn’t read the trancripts. You are so gullible it is sad.
I’ve got a fresh “W Still the President” sticker that’s going on my auto (just below my Texas A&M University Former Student Century Club sticker) later tonight.
I know what you mean....right now its all ObamaFest all the time..whether its MSNBC or Fox.
I remember hearing one of the agent’s wives on the radio (Mike Gallagher’s show) saying that they didn’t want full pardons because it would imply guilt... they wanted commutations and then would work through the courts to clear their names via appeals/new trials.
Really, that must be why he gave full pardons to various criminal cretins over the past couple of months instead of two Border Guards doing their job... here we go again defending the indefensible!
They were put in solitary because one of them was severly beaten by illegals while put in the general population...so they put them in solitary.
Glad they are being released...but should be pardoned
Yes that is correct...Bush had been pardoning all kinds of drug dealers, while the two wrongly convicted Border Patrol agents were sitting in prison. Some rule of law!
Bugs me with some of the ignorance from some of the posters regarding this case, especially from those who claim to have “read the transcripts”....obviously they have not seen or read any of the evidence
Names and circumstances, please.
Uh huh.
Absolutely, I'm wondering if there are two transcripts somewhere... and there are two out there... one with the facts and the other put out by Suttons office and picked up by the press and the libs.
Wow you're a braver man than I. I'd like to do that but I don't want my car trashed by liberals.
There was a lot evidence released AFTER the trial...after Congress subpaenoed the DOJ, DEA, and DHS for all evidence and info related to the case. The Feds tried hard to stall any release of evidence
That evidence showed that R & C did not fail to report the incident to their superiors...as their supervisors were there on the scene and told the two to pick up their shells. Also, the evidence showed that Aldrete-Davila was busted later, while on his immunity deal (with free border entry passes), hauling another 1/2 ton of pot.
The crux with the whole trial was that R & C were not allowed to introduce the SECOND A-D drug bust into the trial...which would have totally discredited A-D testimony (he claimed he was not a “drug dealer”...just needed money for his mom).
Their conviction was a travesty....and theirs was not the first of questionable cases pushed by Johnny Sutton against law enforcement dealing with illegal aliens.
There should be a few people replacing R&C in jail, and we all know who they are!
BTW Glenn Beck is Interviewing their wives right now on FOX.
Who?
Yes just saw the interview....good to see the wives happy
Though someone should slap Liz Wiehl....she knows nothing about the case...and thought her comments were patronizing to Mrs Ramos and Mrs Compean. But what do you expect from a TV lawyer married to a liberal ambulance-chaser
