More lasts today
This morning President & Mrs. Bush departed the White House for Camp David, Maryland, where they will spend their last weekend as the First Couple before Tuesdays inauguration.
Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice gave her final press conference today at the State Department in Washington. She also met with Israels Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni. Dr. Rices last official act as Secretary of State was signing a memorandum with Foreign Minister Livni that will help prevent arms smuggling to terrorists in Gaza.
And today Press Secretary Dana Perino delivered the Administrations final press briefing (Transcript). Dana took time to pay tribute to her predecessor Tony Snow and to all the members of the White House press staff. But one name was conspicuously absent from her remarks.
Q Dana, you mentioned Ari and Tony, but I don't think I heard you mention Scott. Was that a slight or was that -- was anything deliberate --Dana: No harm meant, I just didn't mention him.
What did you think of his comments [on MSNBC] last night?
Dana: I didn't bother watching them.
Enjoy your visit to Sanity Island
I haven’t posted on this very valuable thread before, but could not let this last day go by without saying how much I thank President Bush for his patriotism, his unswerving duty and his love of America. I treasure that this man has been my President and I will never forget him.
May God bless him, Laura and their family and keep them safe. In Christ’s Holy Name.
That being said, what got Obama over the finish line was too many white people hoping to shrug off the guilt they've felt for years because of slavery. They knew his resume was thin, but he was a black man, and they wanted to be 'righteous' in their vote.
I'd always hoped that the first black president would be a Republican, so that black people would have a good role model in the White House; someone who had worked hard, and didn't believe in artificially leveling the playing field so he could succeed.
I'm still hoping that the first woman president will be a Republican, as a repudiation of the feminist message.
Dear President Bush,
Its with extreme sadness that we have to watch you, and your lovely Laura, depart the White House. You both have graced it with your hospitality, charm, and integrity, even in the face of the negativity of the media for your entire 8 years there. Please know that Ill be keeping you both in my prayers, and wish all the happiness in the world for you, on your return home to Texas. Ill especially be praying for Grandkids for you two to spoil rotten!
All the best!
I sent mine just in time :)
I sent a note earlier today. How fun? I couldn't figure out where this came from though--do we know if this is really legit? Like I said, it doesn't matter a whole lot as I went ahead and sent a letter, but I was just curious.
The Don of the Snowflakio Family!
God love him, and keep and rest his soul.
Amazing << Hear this. Feel this, and tell me that this isn't music.
And dont sleep on these two, either.
Good for you!!!
I don’t know exactly where it came from, but, like you, I did
it anyway. If he gets the messages, it will make him feel
good...I hope!
Oh dear.
(Hello, my friend.)
thanks for the ping, what’s a dose thread?
Thank you for the Daily Dose. I have enjoyed these posts over the years and have often marveled at the work involved in putting these together. It is much appreciated.
I pray that we will see these posts again in 4 years for the next conservative President.
