I laughed when I saw his book in the thrift store about making marriage last.
Now I cry when I thing of the imposition on his son of a “stepmother”. There is a reason that stepmothers are always wicked in literature. It is not because they are wicked as persons, but because they are wicked as status. Kids need their biological parents and when one or both of those parent’s abandon them by divorce and remarriage, their world is forever shattered.
I can’t congratulate Dennis. I can only mourn for his first marriage, him, his first wife, his son and this “second wife.”

When Prager announced his divorce he said, ". . . I hope that what I call my moral bank account is large enough to withstand this withdrawal".
If we had "moral bank accounts" criminal trials would require the jury to weigh all the good a person had done against all the bad to judge guilt or innocence.
