Nearly 400 earthquakes have rocked Yellowstone National Park since last Friday. The quakes are putting scientists on alert, but they say this type of activity isn't unusual. As long as the quakes continue, the park will keep a very close eye on the region.
Hank Heasler, the Park's Geologist, said "Back in 1985, up to 3 months of earthquakes (occured). (They were) up to magnitudes 4.7. So the past four days have been relatively energetic for the last few years."
Scientists say predicitng earthquakes is still in it's infancy and not reliable. Park officials are not worried that this swarm of quakes could lead to a catastrophic event. However with the lack of accurate forecasting it is possible that these small tremors could be a precursor to a much bigger quake or even a volcanic eruption.

Frequently asked questions about recent findings at Yellowstone Lake
I guess I won't get too worried until I hear reports of poached fish floating in the lake and bison flambé available for pick up.
Yeah, but if you have a bad itch, you need to scratch...eventually. I guess eventually is the key.
Well, let the kimshi hit the fan. It’s about to, anyway.

Basically the same here, although I do have to admit that the fact this earthquake swarm is taking place right under the NW corner of the like where the dome is, is a bit unnerving.
Does it float?
It has been reported and noted by the USGS that an earthquake swarm has been occuring under Lake Yellowstone since December 26th.
The attached webicorder display shows that after the tremor swarm activtiy died down this evening a new pattern of potential classic harmonic tremors has started and continues at the time of this posting. Harmonic tremors could mean lava is now moving under the Yellowstone super volcano.
The USGS has made no updates since these tremors began.

The Lake, Mary Lake, and Mirror Lake Plateau siesmographs looks downright ugly tonight. Almost constant movement for the past 5-6 hours.
It’s Bush’s fault.
Women and minorities will be hardest hit.
If it doesn’t, fat floats. You can hang on to me...
Dammed if I know...
I’ll sleep well tonight. Thanks!
That tight cluster up and down is what I found startling. It's like Mother Nature's got the mother of all cases of GERD. Okay, who's got the industrial strength Maalox?
