Egyptian border guards have opened fire on Palestinians who breached the border to escape Israel's assault on Hamas in the Gaza Strip.
An Egyptian security official said there were at least five breaches along the nine-mile border and hundreds of Palestinian residents were pouring in.
At least 300 Egyptian border guards have been rushed to the area to reseal the border, the official added on condition on anonymity because he was not authorised to speak to the press.
A resident of the Gaza Strip side of the border, Fida Kishta, said that Egyptian border guards opened fire to drive back the Palestinians.

The allies were afraid, with Japan, they were facing a nation of potential kamikazes.
IMO, much the same exists within all of the Middle East.
You owe me a new keyboard!
Lots of Palestinians work in Israel for one thing. It’s not like they are a pox there. Some are even in government. Or, if they are well behaved, they could emigrate. Granted, I am sure there many innocent people in Gaza that just want out. This is a war, not total war like WW2, but it is a war nonetheless. Innocent people are killed, but I would not expect Egypt to stand down as an unruly mob of foreigners from a terrorist supporting country over ran their borders. Look what happened the last time they surged into Egypt. They basicly pillaged and ransacked whole towns. Funniest thing was how the MSM played it. They came into town and BOUGHT everything up. And the shopkeepers and townspeople were begging the Army to run them out. Impoverished refugees crossed the border, opened their wallets and bought everything in town? The Egyptians would open Mohammed Land and invite them all back if that was the case.
No, they overran the towns as a gang and coerced the goods out of the town. For all the pissing and moaning the Arabs do about the Palestinians, they could help. Israel sends electricity, food and medical supplies to a country that is endeavoring to push them in the sea. Saudi Arabia could support Gaza with no problem, but they wont.

Obama has a problem, didnt Hamas support him in the election?
...
Only if the MSM would bring it up...
bump
I’ll take that as a “tank you bhf”
I am rather certain that we are in accord when it comes to who is righteous b/n Israelis and (so called) palestinians.
Still, the notion that human beings attempting to escape (what appears to them to be) inevitable destruction at the hands of their antagonists only to find weapons aimed at them by their “protagonists” deserves what they gets, seems rather dark sided to me.
Certainly it is not a posture tainted by “Christian” precepts.
If I am somehow now to be found entrenched in a battle concerning values, I think that I'd not do so well in the end to find myself concurring with the sort of folks who would blatantly advocate the slaughtering of persons who chose to flee madness when it finds them wherever.
I perceive your post as as being on the lighter side of darkness, but there are others who post out here who take themselves and their posturing very seriously. So it seems to me.
I seriously doubt that they represent the majority of FReepers, or that you would desire to be equated with such.
I am (for 4 decades now) sick of the palestinians and their representatives. I despise them all. However, I will not be the one to advocate the mass murdering of any group. That was what my original point was about.
I'll let you get it.
ur cool man, I like you
Perhaps someday people will say that we Americans deserve to reap what we sow because we anointed this latest fraud to the highest office in our land, just before things fell completely apart. That is not so unlikely as the MSM may presume right now.
I've been pissed off at these (so called) palestinians since just about the time that I could read. For exactly the reasons that you posted.
Lining them up and shooting them all seems a bit extreme to me though.
I like the notion of just fencing them all in to deal with each other to work things out. That is unlikely to result in anything similar to Jeffersonian Democracy.
Still, it is not the same as turning their “camps” into a shooting gallery.
Noone is turning their camps into a shooting gallery. The Israelis have bent over backwards to “give land for peace”, pulled Israelis out by force in this “land for peace” deal, handed over orchards developed by Israelis (with additional dollars from Americans to ease their burden), Israelis have helped the Palestenians with aid, hospital care, you name it. When these folks elected Hamas by a huge majority (not 57%) to represent them, then have rocket launchers in local neighborhoods, educate their “police” in explosives, yada, yada, yada, they are not going to get a lot of sympathy.
Is there any justification for proposing/passing legislation of Sharia law to include crucifixions for Palestinian and other “sabeteurs” who don’t follow Hamas’ party line? They are acting like animals. If they get treated like animals, if supporters of Israel get a little overzealous on the internet supporting their downfall, the Palestinians’ and their “pass the blame” crowd have put them in this position.
Is it sad? Yes. Do those few Palestinians who don’t agree with Hamas’ party line have an extremely difficult choice to make? Yes. It is reality.
An interesting post.
inevitable destruction at the hands of their antagonists
Surely, they mean Hamas...
Maybe the Egyptians have seen the light and are now trying to HELP Israel, not destroy the divine nation. Just a thought.
Those who never signed up for Hamas and want out have a rough road, for sure. Those in Germany who never signed up for Hitler’s “Final Solution”, had a rough road, as well, regardless of their heritage. Geography, leaders, and choices that we face can really be hard in this life.
Sorry, but I have to slightly disagree with you here. IMO, they aren't acting.
Also, I'm wondering, if I were to say, "Relocate them all to a higher spiritual plane", it would make anyone feel any better?
Egypt is looking out for themselves. They don’t have great oil reserves. What they do do have are tourist attractions. Outstanding tourist attractions. They rely heavily on the tourist trade for their revenues. Scare away the tourists and the country dies. (IMO)
