Hello everyone,
Happy Christmas to all.
To be truthful, my favorite Christmas treat is a good single barrel Bourbon.
I hope to be at the puter a bit on Christmas Eve. Hope to talk to many of you then.
It’s really cold here today, everyone is mostly present or accounted for, good fire going and looking forward to the celebration.
Hope all is well with you and yours.
Regards,
AR

As a boy, I was fascinated by the book The Invisible Man. The main character played an elaborate game of hide-and-seek, staying just out of reach of mere mortals cursed with a visible nature. To have a physical presence, he wore clothes and wrapped his face in bandages. When it was time to escape, he simply removed everything and disappeared.
I wonder if we have similar thoughts about our unseen God. We feel He is beyond our reach and express it in song with one of my favorite hymns:
Immortal, invisible, God only wise,
In light inaccessible
Hid from our eyes.
Yet, while declaring the wonder of God, the hymn speaks of a God who is not just invisible:
All praise we would renderO help us to see
Tis only the splendor of light hideth Thee!
We perceive that God is distant, far off, inaccessible, and hidden. But we need a God who is accessible, and we wonder how to have a meaningful relationship with Him.
We will never fully comprehend what God is like. Yet He Himself is accessible to us. In part, that is why Jesus cameto show us the Father (John 14:8-11) and to bring us close to Him, because He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation (Col. 1:15).
No doubt my family favorites are buttermilk pie & divinity!
My mom used to make the most amazing pfefferneusse cookies. Peppermint meringues, too. Wonderful stuff.
Evening Lauren, Hugs.
Fruit cake makes a great door stop.
My Family used to have Calzones Christmas Eve Booming fire in Fireplace and then a Popcorn popping Competition (fewest Kernels left wins!!)!.... Very Traditional Irish fest (haha) Plus Guinnes!

Good morning, Everyone. Good morning
Thank you, Lauren , for preparing the Canteen for todays activities. Let's see....my favorite? A cross between my fudge and my mom's homemade coconut cake.
Now for our local DC Metroland weather report
~ Today.... Partly sunny. Highs in the upper 30s. Northwest winds around 5 mph...increasing to south 10 to 15 mph this afternoon.
~ Tonight.... Mostly cloudy. A slight chance of rain and freezing rain after midnight. Lows in the lower 30s. South winds 10 to 15 mph. Chance of precipitation 20 percent.
PRAISE THE LORD....he heard my whining! Temps will back into the 40s-50s!
Yeah, I know Ma told me not to whine about the cold but I just gotta. Like I said, if I liked these frigid temps, I'd move north! So, yeah, I'm whining....just don't tell Ma. hehe
BTW, did y'all see the tree Ma put up? Look at this....an Alaskan Christmas tradition, I guess.......
Time for me to make my rounds. But, you stay right where you are. Keep your eyes on your monitor. Cause...............I'll be bock
Now remember, the Canteen is
So, come on in and sit for a while. There's always plenty of coffee, pancakes, conversation, silliness, and plain old BS
