I’ve wintered in a few states and celebrated New Years in hot tubs under palm trees.

But I still dream of a white Christmas.

I'll be celebrating Christmas in the sandbox for the first time in all those years I've been here.

I was kind of bummed out about that at first, but we're having some nice get-togethers and the Iraqis are all getting into Christmas.

Iraqi Christians have boldly decorated around the city for the first time in years. Turns out, it's all quite beautiful.

I hope you get your white Christmas. As much as I don't like snow, a light dusting at Christmas is very nice. :)

I remember a birthday in a hot tub under pine trees and red-rock buttes with a foot of snow on the ground - that was almost the best!

I’ve never lived where it snowed on Christmas. And I’ve never visited where it snowed on Christmas. The closest I came was mid-December 2004 where there was lots of snow and ice around the Straits of Magellan / off the Antarctic coast ... when we were lookin’ for penguins. Of course .... that was late spring down there.
