IMF warns of economic riots, police ready for civil unrest

Pentagon resources and U.S. troops may be used if needed to quell protests and bank runs during an economic crisis, the U.S. Army War College's Strategic Institute reported.

"Widespread civil violence inside the United States would force the defense establishment to reorient priorities in extremis to defend basic domestic order and human security," the War College study states.

Incidents of economic collapse, terrorism and disruption of legal order could require deployment of forces within the U.S., it said.

A "strategic shock" could require the nation to use "military force against hostile groups inside the United States."

If you really think your nephew, the Marine, will come at you with his tank, even if directly ordered, you need to disassociate yourself from said nephew, and his parents.

His upbringing is sadly lacking.

This "trends" forecaster is an alarmist nincompoop. The numbers we're seeing suggest that this economic downturn is probably going to last through 2009 and then start turning around in 2010. How the heck is the US going to become an undeveloped nation in the span of 4 years? Are martians going to steal all of our roads, power plants, factories and other economic infrastructure? People need a little bit of perspective here.

You really, *really* underestimate the damage that a socialist government combined with a completely debased and valueless currency can wreak on infrastructure. How long will a refinery operate if it is carbon taxed the point of non-profitability? What if that refinery supplies fuel to trucks that move grain to and from one of the only two rail points where it is transported from the bread basket? What if that trucking firm can't get credit to buy fuel for its fleet? Food riots in 5 days, that's what.

Then there are the obvious scenarios: Terrorist attack on the power grid. Poison the water supply. China calls in the T-Bill debt its holding.

Our government has sold us down the river, and they are busy making sure any rafts left over are burning. We will have no financial facility to conduct business or maintain infrastructure. In the process of market analysis, I've accidentally discovered how delicate our society and its infrastructure is. And it scares me.

Good point.

Reminds me of “The Running Man” where swartz was ordered to fire on the crowds and refused.

Or perhaps he is informed that he is enforcing a quarantine for a strain of airborne Ebola virus, and anyone who tries to leave the neighborhood/camp may end up killing millions. Why would he disobey an order to aim his tank and you and blow you into pink mist if you tried to leave?

There isn’t enough troops to watch this whole country. I think if whitey starts rioting It will make all previous riots look like romper room.

Yep.

The only reason the politicians/government have control over this machine they have corrupted so badly, is because we the people have allowed them to up to this point.

That may happen once or twice, but pretty soon the word will get out that those giving the orders are lying through their teeth.

Not until after your town is exterminated. Ex post facto publication of your tragically unnecessary obituary won't be much consolation.

“Whitey” won’t “riot”.

“Whitey” will perform domestic insurrection.

I listen to the police scanners on the internet, and it is happening here and now.

The media does not cover even 1% of the events in the cities and towns in the U.S.

I have listened for over a year, and hear things that you will never hear, or if you do, it is so watered down that you won’t bother to read it.

Last spring there was an exciting chase of a couple killers in San Diego, cops ran over by the bad guys, a search of a canyon, helicopters, K-9 dogs, the works, and the good guys won.

The media said something, like “Two men were arrested by Police in so and so canyon.”

Check for your town in these two links or use google for :

Hell, this inept, corrupt government can't even control our own borders or balance a simple budget...How would they ever control tens of millions of extremely angry people?

Answer: They couldn't, and they would run for the hills.

They'd better hope the event never comes that triggers any more anger between the people and this corrupt government.

Lots of boiling anger out there right now. I honestly hope the lid doesn't come off.

Big difference between mindless riots for fun, and tens of millions legitimately angry, with a belly full of this punitive, ever expanding intrusive socialist government.

There is really nothing to distinguish Americans from Rwandans and Cambodians, excepting their revolutionary historical memories.

Should they lose those, as the government school system seems bent on achieving, then everything becomes possible....

Definitely, Americans cannot make socialism work better than the other nations have, but I fear what the Yankee can-do spirit could bring to the killing fields.

Last month, trends forecaster Gerald Celente told Fox News that America will morph into the first “undeveloped” nation of the world by 2012. He said there will be a tax revolution marked by “food riots, squatter rebellion, tax revolts and job marches.” He also said by 2012, the holidays will be more about getting food rather than gifts.

Don’t bet on it. His record of being correct speaks for itself.

The thing that really ticks me off though, is folks just don’t pay attention. And these are the 600 people that affect our daily lives, and the future of the country!
What a shame.

You can achieve those lofty aspirations if you maintain you current level of paranoia. ;-)

Best wishes for a Merry Christmas.
