Kennedy Takes A Beating From Upstate Media Reporters Jump All Over Mostly Silent Princess Of Camelot; Mayor Of Syracuse Doesn't Offer Endorsement Who Should Get Senate Gig? Siena Poll: Cuomo 26, Kennedy 23 Reporting Marcia Kramer NEW YORK (CBS)
Caroline Kennedy took a page from Hillary Clinton's playbook and began an upstate listening tour On Wednesday.
The road trip included stops in Syracuse, Rochester and Buffalo to help convince Gov. David Paterson and voters she's the one to replace Clinton in the U.S. Senate.
But it was a tough crowd.
The black SUV pulled up to Syracuse city hall Wednesday morning. It was stop one on Kennedy's upstate tour.
But after meeting with Mayor Matt Driscoll, she ran into a buzz saw -- angry reporters who wanted her to do more talking and less listening.
"But you've never held public office so what experience [do you have]?" one reporter asked.
Actually, she did speak briefly in Syracuse.
"I wanted to come upstate and meet with Mayor Driscoll and others to tell them about my experience and also learn more about how Washington can help these communities," Kennedy said.
Her quick remarks fell flat. Reporters seemed to feel brushed off and they pursued her out.

At least she isn’t corrupt.
I posted this in another thread, but I’ll add that being a Democratic US Senator at this point is a very easy job. You are told how to vote by Harry Reid and the “leadership”, you hire a competent Chief of Staff to deal with lobbyists, and you get good, connected staffers who will insert pork into bills for the appropriate pay-offs.
A monkey could be a Dem Senator at this point.
Hasn't everybody heard of "The Divine Right of Kings"?
Those of us who live in NY (and to some extent those in NJ too) need to come to terms with the fact that no matter how much ranting and raving we do, we can’t change the fact that Dave Paterson is going to appoint a liberal to fill Hillary Clinton’s seat. Since that’s going to happen anyway, it might as well be a high-profile candidate, with the incoming president’s ear. Do I like the thought of Carolin Kennedy as my senator? Of course not. But show the individual among the possibiilities who might be prefferable. Andrew Cuomo? I don’t think so? I prefer to let her do her best to get NY money for two years, and then let Peter King (a Republican I can’t stand) or Giuliani (likewise) go after her with extra ammunition in two years (when presumably we’ll still be at war and the economy will still stink). It takes a lot of planets aligned to get a Republican Senator from NY. The last time it happened, the 1980 Reagan Revolution wasn’t enough for D’Amato. Jacob Javits also had to split the liberal vote with Liz Holtzman.
Caroline Kennedy is obnoxious, same arrogant attitude BO has
I’m a Kennedy . i can’t be asked normal question I might cryyyyyyyyyyyy ... Boooo wwhhhoooooo ...
I couldn’t help but think of a clip from “One flew over the cuckoo’s nest” when I heard the reporter whining and pleading with the “Mrs. Kennedy, you’re not going to answer questions!?!?” The reporters sounded like Cheswick (who sounds and looks like Barney Frank) in the “I want my cigarettes” scene:
About 1:30 into the clip:(language warning)

What makes it tragic is outside of the laziness many of these people actually have conservative values.
We aren’t peasants.
Yep, we need to get NY City to secede.
Sorry, Red, I ain’t leaving. This is my state; I was born here and I will die here and I will be buried here. New York State is a beautiful place to live, even with the taxes.
Yeah, me, too, with all the global warming going on these days, LOL.
Yep. Syracuse and Rome used to have tons of factories and other good places to work. No more.
What do you know about those of us who live in NY state? We don’t all fall for the liberal mindset.
You’re exactly right. Cities and college towns are the only ones who like liberals. The rest of us normal people hate the thought!
Exactly. We lost most of our manufacturing and have become a tourist state. Some difference from good pay and benefits to minimum wage.
Yes, we’d probably be more conservative, like we used to be. Our farms are slowly disappearing and we need some help from our representatives, who really do NOT represent us because they aren’t from rural areas and they’re rich.
Sin came into the world, that’s why. satan is the god of this world, temporarily, until the Lord’s return.
That depends on where you live. Parts of say, Madison County, have a poorer population than the college towns. College towns are usually not depressed.
One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s nest was filmed right here in Central New York, not too far from where I lived (at least segments were).
