Kennedy Takes A Beating From Upstate Media Reporters Jump All Over Mostly Silent Princess Of Camelot; Mayor Of Syracuse Doesn't Offer Endorsement Who Should Get Senate Gig? Siena Poll: Cuomo 26, Kennedy 23 Reporting Marcia Kramer NEW YORK (CBS)

Caroline Kennedy took a page from Hillary Clinton's playbook and began an upstate listening tour On Wednesday.

The road trip included stops in Syracuse, Rochester and Buffalo to help convince Gov. David Paterson and voters she's the one to replace Clinton in the U.S. Senate.

But it was a tough crowd.

The black SUV pulled up to Syracuse city hall Wednesday morning. It was stop one on Kennedy's upstate tour.

But after meeting with Mayor Matt Driscoll, she ran into a buzz saw -- angry reporters who wanted her to do more talking and less listening.

"But you've never held public office so what experience [do you have]?" one reporter asked.

Actually, she did speak briefly in Syracuse.

"I wanted to come upstate and meet with Mayor Driscoll and others to tell them about my experience and also learn more about how Washington can help these communities," Kennedy said.

Her quick remarks fell flat. Reporters seemed to feel brushed off and they pursued her out.

Upstate NY media understand how inconsequential they really are ... along with their readers. All NY politics are determined downstate (Albany & south), particularly NYC, the Boroughs, Staten Island, and any portion of Long Island beyond the Boroughs. The fact Caroline Kennedy, aside from a car trip or two to the Adirondacks has never set foot in Syracuse, Rochester, Buffalo, etc., is of no consequence ... Governor Patterson will fold. His constituency is Albany & south.

“One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s nest was filmed right here in Central New York, not too far from where I lived (at least segments were).”

It was my top movie of all time until Braveheart and The Patriot came out. Still in the top ten and a strong ‘individualist’ movie than most of the ones these days.

We have some high tech upstate and service companies, but it is not enough.

What galls me is that it seems the fix is in. They know they can shove her down our throats. Can you imagine the Guv saying NO to a Kennedy?

Sent this to Scarborough:

If you ever get Caroline on the show....

... Joe, be sure to ask her some of these questions:

How much did you spend on your wardrobe? Can you see New Jersey from your lanai on Park Ave.?! Which part of the Bush Doctrine do you disagree with? Has your youngest girl Tatiana ever been pregnant. Where did you come up with that name??!! What did you think about your fathers extramarital affairs? And your mom marrying Onassis?? What do you read? Be specific!

And then have Mika comment on the wardrobe costs every day until she’s seated in the Senate and then once a week after.

He can see his way clear on that one.

Oh, I know the Kennedys are steeped in sin and are the spawns of Satan. Why the Pope hasn’t seen fit to exorcise the Kennedys back to Hell is beyond me.

Nope. I can’t. I think she’s a shoo-in. Maybe she won’t do too much damage.

When a movie like Milk comes along and is considered one of the best movies of the year, I KNOW we’ve come a long way, baby...DOWN.

She is no less experienced than the current occupant of the seat was eight years ago when she carpetbagged into New York to run for the seat.

But I'm a Kennedy............what a dim bulb..

My wife and I agree, Mrs. Caroline Schlossberg sounds like a special needs person.

Shows how out of touch I am with Hollywood these days. Never heard of it. Although I did watch “Dark Knight” and found it lacking except for the Bush connection of never giving in or giving up which contrasts to my recent posts on another thread :-) I’ve found most of the academy nominations in the recent years really bad, even when they have some actors whom I used to like (only for their acting).

I think public education has affected the writing and directing especially. The one thing about ‘One flew over...’ was there were no boring scenes and it moved right along. That’s all writing and directing (and editing). Few movies are that tight. Shawshank, 3 Days of the Condor, Groundhog Day, Empire of the Sun, Midnight Run, Bronx Tale, Big, Ransom, and the Bourne series are a few others in that line, imo. Whereas Departed, Syriana, Good Shepard failed miserably, again, imo.

IF you look at the “red blue” map by county - you will notice it’s not based on the upstate v downstate dichotomy - it’s more rural v urban although the downstate area is clearly more blue than the rest of this sorry state.

I’ll see if I can dig that up....

To show you how out of touch I am of Hollywood, I’ve hardly heard of those movies. I saw one Bourne movie and I’ve heard of Shawshank Redemption but haven’t seen it. Like everything else, movies ain’t what they used to be.

Several factors in play.

If you look at the county by county red blue nap you will see that the urban centers of NY - Albany, Buffalo, Syracuse, Rochester, and of course the whole NYC region except for Staten Island - went donkey—no surprise there. Urban areas represent: minorities, government workers, cacademics, immigrants, union labor, (throw in garbage heap the guilt ridden liberal limousiners)-—people generally on some kind of government dole who know that the donkeys will do their best to maintain the status quo.

The only “change” that Barry promised is a return to the big brother big tax policies of the past-—really big-—much bigger than even Bush could imagine. That is what these proletariat constituencies wanted.
