Caroline Kennedy's interest in the U.S. Senate seat now held by Hillary Clinton is making for lots of talk, about whether having the Kennedy name is enough to qualify her for the position.
Kennedy, who's 51, has been a very private person until her very public support of Barack Obama, and this week she's saying publicly she's interested.
Reaction here in Syracuse: Outgoing Congressman Jim Walsh, honored by the Onondaga County Legislature for 20 years of service to the area, says 'Well, I think you have to earn this." He points to Clinton's tenure and asks 'Why did she come here initially?' Walsh now thinks we should ask, 'Why is Caroline Kennedy interested?"
Incoming 25th District Congressman Dan Maffei is noncommittal on who he'd support, saying it's the Governor's decision. Action News caught up with him, as he was touring Sensis Corporation in East Syracuse, learning more about big employers in the district. Maffei says he has tremendous admiration for Caroline Kennedy, and that she could do anything she wants, including being a U.S. Senator, but he also says "I like her as a candidate, but I like other candidates, too."
Governor David Paterson will make the appointment, but Senator Clinton has indicated she will not vacate the position until her confirmation hearings.

I agree. Caroline does NOT have ANY experience, NONE.
All she would be is a “YES” person /lap yorkie for OBAMA.
What is more amazing is the fact the Kennedy millions were made through corruption (the selling of illegal booze during prohibition).
YET the DEMONCRATS embrace these offsprings who come from corrupt politicians and crooks.
Caroline earned that senate seat the old fashioned way.
Her family bought it for her.

There already is a kennedy in the senate. Ted looks dead but he ain’t quite yet, unfortunately.

It looks like Caroline is trying to join the Democratic Chicago Political Corruption Scheme. She is well on her way.

The position of Senator should be earned not awarded as another patronage treat.
Chelsea Clinton is only 28 years old, so she is not Constitutionally qualified for the office (as if such things mattered...)
When Ted Kennedy’s seat came available, back when the Earth was cooling and waters still swirled unpredictably around the outer islands, Teddy was only 28. So the Kennedys had some loyal cipher named to the position, to keep the chair warm for two years.
Maybe the Clintons will pull the same move here.

Democrats don’t worry about competence when they fill positions of power.
Democrats are like the jerk at a baseball game who watches an outfielder make a running driving over the shoulder catch, and tells his friends “I could do that, anybody could do that!”
Being a Democrat is all the qualification Democrats need to be appointed or selected to fill a job. Some of the Democrat jackasses who have “served” us after being handed a job are:
* Jocelyn Elders. Remember that jerk’s idea to teach school boys how to masturbate and how she liked the music of Eric “Klapner?” That imbecile was appointed Surgeon General by Bill Clinton, not because she is a fine doctor with real credentials, but because she’s a Democrat and could have told the world Clinton’s mother was an abortionist in rural Arkansas.
*When New York State’s Democrat Comptroller went to jail, Democrats appointed a Democrat Assemblyman with no financial training, and less than $6,000 in personal investments. Not surprisingly in just eight month with this genius in control of the state’s pension fund, it has lost 20% of its value.
*Incompetent Democrat Andrew Cuomo was made HUD Secretary by Clinton. Cuomo INCREASED the percentage of sub prime loans Fanny and Freddy HAD to make, from 43 to 50%, thereby insuring the financial mess America is in today.
Barack Obama was essentially handed his Illinois State Senate and US Senate seats. He obviously has no qualifications.
Now Democrats want hand Hillary’s Senate seat to Caroline Kennedy to fulfill a “fairy tale dream” we are told. Please! To me it’s a nightmare. But she’s qualified right? Her total lack of qualifications or government experience mean nothing. Her Kennedy name is all she needs.
After all it’s only a senate seat that anyone can fill, right?
Competence never means anything to Democrats. Why should it? Anyone can do these jobs, right?
Even a schmoe like Fran Dressler, television’s Nanny thinks SHE should be considered for Clinton’s seat. Why not? It’s not like the job couldn’t be done by anybody off the street or anything, and she did a great job running a rich guy’s household on TV right?
You will recall that the noted expert in bio chemistry Meryl Streep testified at a Congressional hearing to ban the spraying Alar on apples. She played a farmer in a movie and is a liberal Democrat, that was good enough.
Notice the plan for the new administration is to leave Bill Gates as Defense Secretary. Even the ultimate incompetent Obama knows there are some jobs that need to be filled with competent people. His financial people lean toward competency as well. Enough said?
Does any member of current/next Legislative, Executive, and Judicial Branches deserve to occupy positions? I can probably use less than 10 fingers to figure that one out.
2. Murdered Mary Jo Kopechne.
3. Helped nephew rape woman in Florida compound.
4. Murdered his wife and her sister by flying them into ocean.
5. Both were f****** Marilyn Monroe.
Hell, if that isn't good lineage, what is?
OTOH, I know little about a Carolyn Schlossberg.

We have reached the point in our Republic where we need a constitutional amendment which prohibits family members of current and past federal officials from having any government post elective or otherwise.
“if she wants to enter politics let her run for office and earn it”
Even Hillary was smart enough to understand that.
After becoming Senator, will we next see Ms. Kennedy proffered for Vice President? Perhaps in 2012?
