Madoff Made Hefty Political Contributions to Top Officials
Democratic and Republican leaders benefited from checks from Bernard Madoff, the disgraced former head of Nasdaq accused of massive investment fraud.

It reads like a who's who of liberal Democrats: Clinton, Corzine, Dodd, Schumer, Kerry, Markey, Rangel, Bradley, Lautenberg ... and yes, even Obama.
And what they all have in common is Bernard Madoff and his company of lies.
In fact, the disgraced one-time Nasdaq boss and founder of an investment firm that authorities say brokered one of the biggest Ponzi schemes in Wall Street history also liberally sprinkled a portion of his allegedly ill-gotten billions to help further the political fortunes of his favorite candidates and their campaigns -- it appears to the tune of more than $400,000.
And, a review of campaign contributions at OpenSecrets.org shows that from 2005-2008, Madoff pumped well over $100,000 into the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, a political action committee guided by Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and Sens. Chuck Schumer of New York, Bob Menendez of New Jersey and Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota.
Schumer's own campaigns were on the receiving end of thousands of dollars from Madoff, his investment firm and members of his family.
Schumer's office acknowledged the contributions and said he has pledged to give $6,000 in Madoff donations to charities.
"He is donating to charity the money that he has received from Mr. Madoff, personally," Schumer spokesman Brian Fallon told FOXNews.com on Monday.

So - they can be bought. But will they give back the ill-bootten goty?
Sheesh, one scandal after another that has links to The One.
Links? Links? Like now the Palm Beach Country CLub, where he recruited his “suckers” is now “pay to play”?
I haven’t heard about that one!
It says, “Republicans” - but I don’t see any repub names among the rogue’s gallery. Am I missing something ..??
Kerry? As in “I married an old saddle bag for her cash” Kerry?
Towards the end of the article a few names are mentioned, although no $ amounts. A few of them are no longer in Congress.
What numbnut CNN announcer recently stated that most recent scandals involved Republicans? If this is true (which it isn't), the Dems are catching up quickly.
Madoff won’t spend a day in jail.
Meanwhile, some ghetto kid will be sent away for pilfering a twinkie at the 7-11.
Lesson: When you steal, steal big
Nor should he. He should be immediately be taken out back and shot after his conviction.
I was just about to post the same thing! We live in an altered state of reality.
That Kerry. The gay cabellero-like football throwing ex-candidate.
I Guess they have to put the word “republican” in the sentence or the lefties won’t read it. LOL!!
Dodd and Schumer: two gomers out of the cavalcade of dolts responsible for our current financial mess.
DemocRAT corruption is breathtaking. Will we EVER know the depth of RAT corruption?
I am from Arizona and I am not surprised. I think I read that he received more funds from out of state than in state the last time he ran for Senate. I recall thinking at the time that there should be no out of state contributions to persons running to represent the people of a local district or state. The support money should be coming from the persons the candidate represents,or wishes to represent.
I’m not sure I agree with that .. and it’s because during this last election, the democrats honed in on a lady running for a House seat, and even Pelosi went to the district and made a “district only” TV commercial to try to get her dem elected.
I was so appalled by how the dems were treating this woman, I sent her a small donation. I guess a lot of other repubs did too and she ended up winning her election.
who are the Republicans that received $$$ they always throw in a few — for balance——
I predict that the Obama Administration will be more “scandal-plagued” than that of William Jefferson Clinton.
Gee, maybe they can give the money back now and help this poor downtrodden victim./s
