President-elect Barack Obama said Monday a review by his own lawyer shows he had no direct contact with Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich about the appointment of a Senate replacement, and transition aides "did nothing inappropriate."
Obama said he is prepared to make the review public, but decided to hold off because prosecutors asked for a delay and "I don't want to interfere with an ongoing investigation."
Controversy has swirled around the president-elect and his incoming White House chief of staff, Rep. Rahm Emanuel, following Blagojevich's arrest last week on charges he schemed to trade Obama's Senate seat for personal gain.
Obama, fielding questions at a news conference, sidestepped when asked whether Emanuel had spoken with aides to the governor.
Emanuel was one of several aides who watched the news conference from the wings.
The president-elect pledged the results of the investigation by his incoming White House counsel, Gregory Craig, would be released "in due course."
He said the probe was complete and thorough, but did not say which of his aides Craig interviewed, whether any of them was under oath at the time, or any other details.

He needs his lawyer to tell him this?

Right. What is so important about "direct" contact? A middle man in the negotiations makes it all OK?
"Hey, Rahm, tell Blago we'll give him a half-million for our guy?"
"Hey, Barky, Blago wants a mill."
"Hey, Rahm, tell him we appreciate all he has done, but he can go muck himself."
"Hey, Barky, Blago says how about 3/4 mill, and you can go muck yourself, too?"
"Hey, Rahm, hang up on that SOB. There. Good thing I didn't have any direct contact with Blago, eh? Wink, wink. And you, Mr. Lawyer, write this down. Barky had no direct contact with Blago!"
I think he's still hiding out at his kid's school. It's safer there than being with Barky.
I call BS! He won’t admit to ANYTHING. He is bulletproof. Or at least he thinks so.
We had 8 years of the Clintons running the White House like a criminal enterprise. Then we had 8 years of George W. Bush. Some good decisions, some bad ones, but he acted as a president and cared about the country and the role of the president in our political life. He didn’t grab at young girls or use his position to get sexual satisfaction or economic favors, and he never will.
We have now gone from the Clintons, two of the most messed up humans we could have known, to the Obamas, who are worse.
They are trailer trash on steroids.

Good enough for the obamedia, it didn’t go all the way to the top like Bush. It stopped at his Chief of Staff.

Since they know all of this stuff is on tape, I wonder if they’d say there were “no inappropriate discussions” if they knew that there were, knowing it’d blow up in their faces.
I think that most of the comments I’ve read in here about this are correct, and I’m now doubting this is going to go anywhere. If there was any wrongdoing, I think it’s been sufficiently covered up, and they know it.
