ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. -- The remains of a young child were located in east Orange County on Thursday morning less than a half-mile from Casey Anthony's parents' home, according to the Orange County Sheriff's Office.
Eyewitness News has learned an Orange County water meter reader discovered a bag in the area of Chickasaw Trail and Suburban Drive (see map), around three-tenths of a mile from the Anthonys' home (map from location to Anthonys' home).
According to information obtained by Eyewitness News, when the meter reader picked up the bag a skull fell out. The Orange County Sheriff's Office has confirmed to Eyewitness News that the body is a young child.
"We are assuming they are the remains of a victim," said Orange County Sheriff's Office spokesman Jim Solomons.
It is not clear at this point whether the body could be Caylee Anthony.
"We know we have a recent discovery. We have investigators on the scene. We need to determine what we have," said Solomons.
Reports from the scene say deputies have set up a perimeter near a small retention pond.
If Caylee’s remains, this location is particularly damning to Casey.
I know her stories were lies, but a slick lawyer and dumbed down jury might result in “reasonable doubt” that the child died at her mother’s hand...whether deliberate or accidental. Casey continues to claim that someone else took the child after she gave her over for babysitting, and the grandparents continue to claim she is alive somewhere.
This location would tie in with only one scenario...that whatever happened it happened in or near the home and that Casey disposed of the body from that location. It had to have happened while Casey was at the home with Caylee and the grandparents were not there that day.
I believe that puts it very early in the potential timeline of events, because such a scenario is known to be plausible.
I hear the grandparents were on Larry King last night. Now, he usually opts for the breaking story: Blago would have been appropriate but no, he gave that story a pass! Needless to say, if Blago had been a Republican he would have had a team lined up to fire the appropriate shots.
I’m on the verge of tears. This just rips my heart apart. :(
tears...
Chandra Lev's BONES were found. Interestingly, they were placed along with her music player and some clothing in an area that had been thoroughly searched.
The bones were bleached by the sun, indicating that her body had been left exposed to decompose. The bones appearing where they were found was an act of sneering evil. Her killer(s) wanted her bones to be found, it wasn't an act of ineptitude on the part of law enforcement.
That is quite odd. Ponds are magnets for all sorts of wildlife. The likelihood of the skeleton not being disturbed by such wildlife doesn’t make sense, considering the date of the crime.
It might also the involvement of others or the innocence of the mother.
Press conference...family has been called...wait and see now...this has to be her.
May she be resting in the arms of God, and may his vengeance be visited upon those who harmed her.
Equi-Search talking right now...they have searched this area twice...they have no idea how in the hell this body wound up here...K-9 and everything has been there.
No...That area had NOT been thorougly searched. They ended very near the area because the FBI got two phone calls which led them in another direction. I know...because I wrote the FBI...and told them they were being led astray.
Tim Miller of Texas EquaSearch (sp) said that LE has called him and said they believe it is Caylee’s body.
Interesting Lee (the brother) resurfaced today after having been unseen for quite some time. And some have said this is right near where the rope on a stick was found a bit ago. Also Casey had said all along she was “close to home”...definitely all seems to be pointing to be Caylee.

Equi-Search spokesman saying this has to be her...the line of direction from the grandparents home to where this body is discovered...is exactly a direct b-line to their home.
There will come a time when the murder of three year olds will be made legal. They will call it “family rights” or something similar and it will be done in the name of freedom.
100% correct
They mention having cordoned off a "retention pond" where the bag was found. I wonder if the bag could have been tossed into the pond, not far from the bank, and the water level subsequently dropped and exposed it.

I am sure that the mother and the grandparents are in this murder neck deep. I hope with the find of Caylees body, the truth will be known.
...now THERE'S an astute guess...
Exactly so. DNA match plus traces of chloroform or its metabolites puts Caylee in her mom's trunk.
May have been a "lucky" setup. Hope they had GPS chasing her.
Great case for "Bones".
