ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. -- The remains of a young child were located in east Orange County on Thursday morning less than a half-mile from Casey Anthony's parents' home, according to the Orange County Sheriff's Office.
Eyewitness News has learned an Orange County water meter reader discovered a bag in the area of Chickasaw Trail and Suburban Drive (see map), around three-tenths of a mile from the Anthonys' home (map from location to Anthonys' home).
According to information obtained by Eyewitness News, when the meter reader picked up the bag a skull fell out. The Orange County Sheriff's Office has confirmed to Eyewitness News that the body is a young child.
"We are assuming they are the remains of a victim," said Orange County Sheriff's Office spokesman Jim Solomons.
It is not clear at this point whether the body could be Caylee Anthony.
"We know we have a recent discovery. We have investigators on the scene. We need to determine what we have," said Solomons.
Reports from the scene say deputies have set up a perimeter near a small retention pond.
How sad. Poor baby.
Seems probable. If so, the only good news is this will provide the evidence needed to convict.

Pretty mind-boggling that it wasn’t found earlier. Above-ground and a third of mile from the Anthonys’ home? Makes me wonder if it was recently moved to the location where it was found.
May God please help that poor meter reader.
And of course that poor little child only wanting to be loved.
Abortion at three years old isn’t much different that late term or just letting her die as the result of a botched abortion.
It is after all only a small step. I wonder if her mom had ever had an abortion?

News that it was a skull that fell out of the bag and not a “head”, may be consistent with the time that has passed.
Not only just having the body, but perhaps there are forensics too that can help.
Ugh. As a former meter reader, I can tell you they occasionally stumble upon some ugly things.
I knew one who found a lady who had hung herself on her back porch.
And lets not even get into the fat ladies doing their naked sunbathing in their back yards...
Good thought. That sort of thing can really mess a person up for a while.
Recently, the DA said he wasn’t going for the Death Penalty in the case of Casey Anthony. If they now have the body of her daughter and can find some eveidence of her being at the scene, I hope they change their mind on the death penalty.
Seems like the dogs would have found this on their initial search?
Who could possibly think they could just toss a bag with a body in it somewhere... and think it wouldn't be found? Why not bury it? ...Don't make no sense.

Perhaps drugs were involved. Poor choices are more likely if a person is using drugs.
Wouldn't mind being present when the news gets broken to the grandparents if this is who it appears to be.
The remains were skeletal. Thats probably all that would be left of her now.
so sad, but I guess we will have to wait on this to see if it is Caylee.
