Most states make do with a single Lieutenant Governor. I didn't know there was any such thing as a Deputy Governor. Maybe the fact that the state government is run as an appendage of the government of Chicago has something to do with it, since Deputy Mayors are fairly common.

Some freepers compared Franks to a "Ken Lucas" type Democrat, I don't know if Franks is that conservative but he's certainly in the mold of an "Ike Skelton" type Dem in the state legislature, and hates Blago and Chicago machine corruption with a passion. The one factor that may give Quinn pause is that he's much further right than Quinn on social issues. Quinn is a populist "reform" Democrat and anti-machine candidate, but he's no conservative Dem. He's more of a bleeding heart honest Dem with lots of pet projects, like Bono from U2.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think an American citizen can be secretary-general of the U.N. due to the fact that the rules say that no member country of the Security Council can also have a representative as secretary-general....or something to that effect.
On the other hand, probably no controlling legal authority in the United Nations would ask her for her birth certificate.

I wonder if Rs can find a way to more effectively oppose the nomination of Holder to be Attorney General now, under the cloud of the pay-for-play scandal? It may make it more feasible to get traction on the Marc Rich pardon scandal and Holder’s central role in that? Make it radioactive for any Democrats to be seen supporting the CORRUPT Clinton pardon for Marc Rich, etc.
Of course there are also the appalling pardons of terrorists, but right now the hot issue is Democrat corruption and Holder was in the middle of some of Bill Clinton’s worst corruption.
