Mitt Romney on the Media (NRO cruise video)

Mitt Romney on the Media (NRO cruise video)

Mitt Romney and Brent Bozell discuss what to do about the MSM. Brent cites figures which show the MSM is dying (but this past election shows the dying dinosaur isn't dead yet). Mitt has some great one liners and a good assessment of what conservatives need to do.

Whoever is going up against Obama in 2012 whether it is Romney/Jindal/Palin or someone not on our radar yet they have to be able to effectively address, counter and deal with the media.

More Mitt Romney and Fred Thompson videos from the NRO cruise here. http://wordpress.redstate.com/dave_in_fla/2008/11/16/if-we-are-going-to-have-a-nuclear-holocaust-3/

And an oldie but goodie when as Gov. of Mass. Mitt gives the media the smackdown. The whining reporter claims "I represent the people". Mitt replies, "No I represent the people, you represent the media".

Well, those of you that hate Romney for whatever reason, you got what you wanted.

Don’t complain the next four years.

Well, those of you that love Romney for whatever reason, you didn't get what you wanted.

Keep complaining about how the Romney HATERS screwed him over for the next 4 years.

The ongoing, highly personal attacks on Mitt Romney on this thread demonstrate many would prefer to die of a ‘theory’ than actually win an election cycle.

Methinks thou hast befuddled PERSONAL and POLITICAL...

Why?

I'd much rather see a video of Palin speaking the language of passionate conservatives!

I’ve read quite a few Mittbotts advocate forced medication and psychiatric regime for strident Romney critics.

Mitt aside, what’s that tell you about his more rabid defenders? It’s kind of like they were cult followers or something.

They really need to pull down the Mitt pictures, the special edition Mitt Romney display plates, pack away the Romney’08 made in China throws, close out the MySpace accounts and maybe go for a walk around the golf course. Start meeting people again, if only to just hang at Dunk’n Donuts and pick up on today’s popular culture, slang and fashion. Slowly, with help and understanding, they can become productive members of society again.

Love? Nope, sorry, you couldn’t be more wrong.

In a election cycle that didn’t have a Conservative that stood a chance in hell of winning the nomination, I supported the only man from either party with Executive experience, and a great track record on economic issues.

Love? ROTFL! Wow, you really don’t have a clue about where I’m coming from here, if thats what you think.

(chuckle)

I'd much rather see a video of Palin speaking the language of passionate conservatives!

Unfortunately, Sarah Palin was not among those seeking the Republican nomination for President a year ago...

My point was that Romney was the most viable and most enthusiastic promoter of conservative thought and values among the field of Republicans in 2008 ..... with "viable" being the operative word.

Then WHY did he not win the PRIMARY - with mainly REpublican/Conservatives voting?

That's the point. Many Republicans, even conservatives, seem to have morphed into class envy Democrats... (never mind the flat out distortions)

All I heard about Romney was that he was too rich to understand....

Not to mention the dispicable anti-Mormon stuff which poured out of the mouths of many here on FR. Even Hucklebee has anti-Mormon tendancies which, in my view, just don't belong in the Republican party at all. Read up on some of his past anti-Mormon sermons and statements.

Hucklebee is a nice guy, and I could have voted for him, but I am really worried about his subliminal motives.

Michael Steele, like him or not, mentioned this the other day.... how Republicans are eating their own with this "purity" nonsense. Reagan would have been appalled, as am I.

I could have gone through an entire bag of popcorn while reading this thread, though in the end it was rather a useless exercise. I had no intention of posting in it until I came across your “confession”.

“She has used her looks to get ahead.”

“She has used her looks to get elected.”

That you mentioned this twice reflects the real core of your resentment towards her. Interesting.

So let me get this straight, because he is a rich Mormon and all of us “Mitt haters” are either envious or bigots or both is why Mitt did not win.

It has nothing to do with his record what so ever.

I guess the next logical leap is going to be one I have mentioned before.

Because the only reason we envious bigots oppose Mitt is because he is a rich Mormon, socialized health care, weakness on the 2nd amendment, lukewarm questionable stances on gay rights and abortion are now core conservative principals.

Hum, best get with the folks here on updating the splash page, the one where everything FR stands for is listed. Looks to need some editing.

Maybe we can get you guys to pick out the best picture of Mitt so we can have it as a banner on every FR page as well...

Hey, we can call it RR, Romney Republic!

It will have the same initials as Ronald Reagan!

Is that cool or what!

It works out great since Mitt is just like Reagan and all...

According to you guys that is...

Never said Romney was perfect, nor that he was super conservative.

Only that he governed a very liberal state from a moderately conservative stance.

Romney was the most conservative among the candidates which had a chance of winning.

I’ve posted McCains leftwing positions so many times I’m sick of typing them.

Here was the bottom line:

Guilani had not a prayer. Fred Thompson didn’t have enough energy to even join the race.

Brownback ..... zzzzzzzz

Duncan Hunter, great guy, love him, but even the most loyal of conservatives could not envision his personality winning anywhere near the support needed for the US Presidency.

Hucklebee.... also a great guy, but an Arkansas Baptist preacher had none to little chance of gaining support anywhere outside the deep South.

Which leaves McCain .... who besides from a good proLife record and his military service, is a freakin’ Democrat. Besides McCain is (was) exactly the wrong person to have as the face of the GOP....

...older than dirt. White break boring with a nasal-sounding, irritating voice. Frumpy, too wimpy to fight, seems to hate Republicans but loves to heap praise on Democrats....

... all of which left Romney, who despite his campaign statements in 1994 and 2002 was not a bad Governor.

Robert Bork, Rick Santorum, Tom Tancredo, Lowry, and the dozens of other very conservatives who supported and endorsed Romney were not all delusional liberals out to destroy the GOP.

They, and I, saw the obvious. Which is that Romney, for all his faults, stood the best chance of winning.

The results of McCain as GOP nominee proved us right. Unfortunately.

The anti-Romney obsession resulted in an Obama presidency for four, and perhaps eight years.

Being a pro military veteran I did not want Romney to attain his goal of fully opening up the military to homosexuality.
Which is it, do you want to keep beating the 2008 dead horse are do you want Romney to beat out any and all better, more conservative candidates that are lining up for the future races? Are you campaigning for the man right now?

Are you campaigning for the man right now?

No, but I am still ticked as hell over the selection of McCain.

Anyone with a clear headed view of the political landscape in 2008 could have seen McCain was a loser from the get go.

Romney, for all his faults (and I believe his pandering to homo's was just that, pandering with no intentions of follow thru what-so-ever) was a far better choice for the conservatives.... for the Republican Party.

McCain has never had the balls to fight the Democrats.... and that was obvious to clear thinking people like Robert Bork, Santorum, Tancredo, and the hundreds of other very smart conservative thinkers in America who endorsed Romney as the one best able to win in 08.

As Gov. of Mass, Romney in fact supported many proLife positions, and also opposed homo marriage legislation.

Now, because of a few pandering statements Romney made long ago which he said in seeking votes in Massachusetts ... we have to endure the embarrassment of an Obama presidency for four and perhaps eight years.

We both know that isn’t the the reality and the fact that you keep playing that line makes you sound like a man with an agenda.

Ignoring the fact that Romney had all the money in the world to spend yet did so poorly, and some how was cheated out of winning the primary instead of just failing against a sitting Senator and another man that had about 11 years as Governor is more rewriting of recent history.

Pretending that you are still outraged at McCain beating Huckabee and Romney is just lame cover for you to promote a candidate.

Always the fall back position when a Mittster has their bluff called. Hey I never said he was the most conservative, yada yada yada...

SO then what is the point. You list off a litany here about guys who couldn't win yet Mitt, with an almost 4 to 1 money advantage in many cases could never close the deal anywhere, even being bested by Huck out side the deep south.

Facts are a nasty thing.

And now you guys are out pimping the man for 2012. You say in this post, and I have seen you and other Mittbots saying the same thing, that Mitt was the best pick among bad choices in 08 but you are pre-picking him before we even know our choices in 2012.

Make up your mind there. Either start with backing a solid Conservative and then fall back to Mitt 4 years from now if need be, or just come out and say it is beauty or faith or whatever that guides your pick, not a desire to see Conservative principals served. It is ok to be honest, it is not like it is a secret with you guys anyways.

See you can not have it both ways, you can not tell me Mitt was a default choice among bad ones in 2008 and at the same time is the best choice among unknown ones in 2012, at least from a Conservative stand point.
