Oops — wrong domain. the site is http://www.americanspiritarms.net/
There are some applications that call for .223 and some that call for .308. I have a Colt AR-15 in .223 and a DPMS AP4 in .308.
You seem to get awfully angry when people don’t get your “jokes.”
They say that a trained infantryman could achieve 30 rpm -- I can't do any better than 15! (it's changing out the stripper clips that slows me down!)
Conversely, there are plenty of stories about the adherents of the "spray and pray" school wasting an awful lot of lead and not hitting anything. One I heard from a local police officer was the two cops (I will suppress the name of their department just to cover their shame) who cornered a fleeing armed robber in an office park and emptied their Glocks AND all their spare magazines while the perp was emptying his little no-name auto pistol back at them. The only victim in the encounter was a dumpster about 75 feet off to one side of the conflict, it had a bullet hole in it. Otherwise everybody and their vehicles were completely unscathed. The perp apparently surrendered out of boredom.
Of course, your average cop thinks of his sidearm as just another tool like his nightstick or radio, and doesn't practice enough to sneeze at. But, still . . .
There are many more whitetails slain in the U.S. every year than people -- a much bigger sample -- and the fact that .223 is frowned upon tells you something right there.
Granted, marksmanship is always the key. That was sacrificed in military training for some years, but I understand it's making a comeback.
Just shoot a CMP qualifying match, then put your money down.
That's what we did. It has a love tap like a Missouri mule, but it's a great rifle!
put it in your mattress
It's those Angry White Males causing mischief again!
Ah whadda you know, you’re just a giiiirl ;o)
Actually, I completely agree with you, but I completely agree with PugetSoundSoldier, too! (How’s that for diplomacy?)
While all things being equal, 308 and 223 are not. However, as PSS stated upthread the advent of the new holographic type sites has been a total game-changer. Unless you are looking through real glass with mil-dots on it, there’s nothing the 223 can’t do faster, easier, and with less investment than a 308.
Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated
Yes, take the $2,000 in unmarked bills, put it in a plain brown envelope and mail it to me. I will in turn, send you a nice surprise Christmas present ;-)
"Just a girl" is sometimes very effective gamesmanship . . . . < g >
I've found that Cowboy Action Shooting is just about as good as combat pistol for a quick education in rapid, accurate fire, plus you also learn rapid fire with a rifle and shotgun. And just to please the girly side of me, I get to dress up too.
(Couldn't resist bragging, I just snaffled 2nd place in my category in the annual club championship on Sat., first year I've shot cowboy action.)
The company selling the conversion parts now (and offering assembly and refinishing services) is "specialinterestarms.com". Photos of the parts and the completed/converted rifles are on that site.
Of course, it's cheaper just to experiment with lighter .303 loads if you're already set up with sizing dies. It's likely that 7.62x39 will become just as scarce as .303, if the Democrats do what we anticipate. Heck, maybe more so - the Enfield lacks the "assault weapon" stigma, dont'cha know...
The NRA was airing anti-Obama ads quite often around here. Apparently too many people were drooling over The One to listen.
It's in the mail.
Here's the epitome of that sense in carbines:
FN PS-90, 5.7x28. It's a small, fast round without much "stopping power," but it carries 50 of them in the magazine above the barrel. All in a gun that's 26" long and weighs 7.5 lbs fully loaded.
IIRC, the average soldier was expected to be able to shoot over 20 aimed rounds per minute, and the record is closer to 40. Most people these days can't do 40 aimed rounds with a semi-automatic.
It would be the right thing to do, because the earth will surely fail if we don’t all pay Al Gore’s companies penance.
I think one of the issues with deer is that you want to be humane. You want a big round that will kill it quickly. With an attacker you don't really care as long as he's not a threat anymore.
The NRA spent forty million dollars on this election. They had commercials, radio spots and newspaper ads.
I was asked by the NRA to volunteer at the local Republican Headquarters. The first night I was there, we had a total of FIVE people on the phones. No other volunteers.
Two of those were on a class project and they divided their time between the Republicans and the dems.
Where the hell were you?
