Looking to buy a semiauto assualt type rifle chambered in either .223 or .308. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Availability of recommended rifle would be a plus, don't want to be put on a waiting list, already have a NJ firearms card to buy rifles and shotguns. Thanks

You can trick it out with laser, optics.... ammo of course.

GE got a bunch of bailout money. They are up to their necks in bad paper. I would avoid GE altogether. It is tempting to buy stock now, but we have no idea what is going to happen. Yes, they seem cheap. No, we don't know that they have bottomed. If we are in a depression scenario a lot more bottom remains, along with more companies going belly up. The 1929 highs were not revisited until about 1955 after the last depression. That means stocks might not rebound for 25 years. If that suits your time horizon then it makes sense.
Can't do that with the .303s because of headspace variations and the "play" in the locking lugs. So each rifle has its own plastic box with its own brass, although really I mostly shoot the No. 4 Sniper rifle. You'd have to be a masochist to shoot the No. 5 jungle carbine - more than once!
Buy a used Yogo instead and get ahead of the trend.
there’s a thought... what if the government encouraged people to only buy American made products this Christmas? obviously, there would be a jump in the economy (thereby demonstrating the impact of all the offshoring)
as if that will ever happen...
This is more my speed:
At least I know how to field strip it!
and i know these will shoot .223
i am not sure if some are meant for .223 but will also shoot 5.56
And with the remaing funds make a donation to the...

The kids thank you in advance.
Good luck finding any!
This is NOT a good sign for the culture or economy!
I think the Kel-Tec SU16-CA rifle might pass muster in NJ - although the stock folds, the rifle won't fire with the stock in the closed position. Comes with 10-round mags, too. Add a decent optical sight (EOTech, Trijicon, etc.) and you're right at $2K.
Adding to the Kel-Tec's appeal is that although it uses AR-15 mags, it doesn't have the "name recognition" and therefore might still be in stock somewhere. I just saw one on a local (Texas) dealer's rack since Thanksgiving (not an AR to be found, though).
I just put a custom, molded rubber butt-pad on my M44. Just about the only modern thing from China I really like!
If you have enough lead, you can always get gold...
What people own is theirs. Why don’t you just start robbing people now? Why wait for a crisis?
Yep, the Jungle Carbine is right up there with the Mosin Nagant carbine in terms of unpleasant recoil. Ever seen the Aussie conversions of the Enfield to 7.62x39? They use the "post-ban" 10-round AK mags, which oddly look just about right.
You and Zoolander!
Never seen the Aussie conversions — sounds like a good idea, certainly better than the .30’06 conversion, which is a recipe for disaster. Too much pressure for what essentially is the equivalent of a .30-40 Krag. Although I’ve seen some nice conversions to .308 and that seems to work o.k. I’d have a gunsmith give it a good hard look if I had one though.
It's got more felt recoil than a 7mm Mag or my dad's .348 Winchester -- plus it's painful! I don't think the stock lines up straight, so that one corner is always digging into your shoulder.
Spend $1000..and put $1000 in the bank.
