What's with Ben Stein, anyway? He's been acting a bit goofy for a while now, but what he said yesterday makes me wonder if he's lost it.
Michael Medved had Stein on his show yesterday. Ben made several pronouncements:
-- He supports the bailout. Moreover, he would bail out states if needed.
-- He was vehemently opposed to the Sarah Palin pick for VP. I checked out a past YouTube video where he was quite vitriolic about it.
-- He's for taxing the rich at a higher rate. OK. I already knew about this. But, WTFF???
No. I don't think he supported Obama in the election At least I hope not.
Darwin gave us the Origin of Species, not the Origin of Life.
and when one of the major thinkers in this camp (Dawkins) attempted to explain the beginning, he speculated on an advanced alien species who may have "seeded" our world to create that first cell
Exogenesis / Panspermia. It's one of the possible explanations for the origin of life on Earth. It, however, doesn't solve the actual problem... since it doesn't explain where the aliens came from.
Saying "God Did It!" doesn't explain anything.
If I remember correctly: Dawkins doesn't support panspermia (or exogenesis), he was just citing it as a possible explanation.
He also shows how the application of evolution can, and did, lead to Naziism and the holocaust, eugenics, and now abortion.
Oy vey.
Not running through that minefield. :)
Doh! Used an “i” instead of a “p” and ended up with italics instead of a new paragraph.
The Evolution of the "Intelligent Design" textbook Of Pandas and People
Both Creationists and Evolutionists are just guessing.
And then folks try to tell us that intelligent design is science. This is just more evidence that intelligent design is creationism with the serial numbers filed off in an attempt to fool school boards and the courts.
Ben Stein is the reason we stopped our American Spectator subscription years ago.
I don’t think Stein actually supports Creationism or ID personally. What his fild did was to expose some rather - uh, er - embarrassing problems with boilerplate orthodoxy - not to mention some of the colorful personalities of leading evolutionists.
Ben has gone liberal. His column in the NewMax magazine brags up obama (he voted for him) but said nothing positive. The only reason I could see that he voted for him was his color. He sounded just like the libs who say he is the One.
"Bueller?.......Bueller?......Beuller?....."
He voted for Obama??? Do you have a link? I gotta read this.
He’s been hanging out with his BFF Al Franken too long and lost his damn mind.
I love Ben Stein but I have to admit he has gone nuts. I hope things will go well for him.
I understand where you are coming from, in the idea that Intelligent Design was usurped for that textbook, but now we must use our heads in order to prevent the idea that God designed the universe will not be allowed at all in our classrooms.
The Catholics teach Intelligent Design. Our Lord designed everything, which then evolved accordingly.
If one exlusively calls “Intelligent Design” creationism, we exclude any inclusion of God. And the movie proved that no University will allow this.
Instead of defining “Intelligent Design” as creationism, how about we correct what it really is. An intelligent being, Our Lord and creator, designed the world to be as it is. This won’t please the NEA much but it is needed. This way, you won’t have non-scientific Christians fighting Christian scientist.
As to Palin, Stein sees her as a sign that the GOP embraces evangelical social conservatism without room for those with divergent views.
As to taxing the rich heavily, Stein sees it as a matter of social equity.
I disagree with Stein on all these things, but those are his reasons.
Which one is he on, "Forbes on Fox"? He said he did not vote for Hussein. In the same breath he said he was for bailing out the Little Three and lots of government spending. He is not the Ben Stein I knew.

Now stop that. You’re not allowed to make sense on one of these threads. Choose sides or get out /s/
“No. I don’t think he supported Obama in the election At least I hope not.”
IIRC, He gave $$ to the Obammy campaign.
I’ve noticed from the very beginning, those who are most “vitriolic” about Sarah Palin tend to be well ... gay.
Is Ben Stein hiding something from us? Inquiring minds want to know.
Ben?... Ben?... Ben?...
