Obama Asks Nation for Input On Reforming Health System. 'We Want Your Exact Ideas,' Daschle Says
Washington Post ^ | DEc. 5, 2008 | Ceci Connolly

In between the tree trimming and gift-giving, President-elect Barack Obama is inviting Americans to spend part of the holiday season talking about health care -- and report back to him.

As he gears up for major health reform legislation next year, Obama is encouraging average Americans to host informal gatherings to brainstorm about how to improve the U.S. system.

The sessions, which could take place at a party, over a Menorah-lighting or at the annual Christmas cookie bake-off, are to be held Dec. 15 to Dec. 31. Former senator Thomas A. Daschle, Obama's point person on health, will attend at least one and prepare a detailed report, complete with video, to present to the next president.

In addition to the house parties, Obama's transition Web site, Change.gov, is collecting thousands of comments on health-care reform.

Be sure to go to Obama's website and submit YOUR suggestions and comments. Don't let the Dems claim that all/most people support their plans for socialized medicine and government takeover of your health care.

How about “I’d rather die and go to hell than sell my soul for nationalized health care.”

Here is my initial overall suggestion:

Try to find ways to disconnect the federal goverment from interfering and running political agendas in the healthcare market.

Dont do to heathcare what you already did to the housing, banking and auto industries.

And leave your grubby paws off my energy consumption as well you dirty rotten stinking RAT!!!!

It’s all a mirage....while people type in their ideas, the Dems will proceed to do as the please.

1) Remove all Ivy League Law School graduates from the planning process.

2) Introduce and maintain market-based incentives wherever possible.

3) Stop ridiculously inflating the “percentage of uninsured Americans” figure.

4) Expand HSA acount benefits. Provide rich tax incentives to allow people to fund their OWN accounts and allow them to be more in control of their healthcare expenditures.

5) Don’t screw around with physician reimbursements. There are enough disincentives to becoming a a health care professional as it is.

6) Reform the tort system, with caps, loser pays clauses and other limits. Execute all trial lawyers.

First, I would restore the Constitution. The problem is evident in the very website, change.gov, which refers to the Office of the President-Elect, when he hasn’t been elected yet. That alone would do a lot for prosperity.

Then, I’d educate people on options, such as 1970s-level care, 1980s-level care, 1990s-level care, and state-of-the-art, and point out that they can still get old-style care for lower prices....and then ask how they expect anyone to make medical advances if they aren’t willing to pay for it. I’d point out that socializing the system is a way to encourage stagnation, and ask if that’s what everyone wants...and if they say yes, then tell them they can do that under a capitalist system if they so choose—and a lot cheaper!

And then, I’d nationalize all of the lawyers.

;-)

“Think about the people who most likely are going to offering suggestions on this site.”

That’s why I am suggesting that sensible people go there too, to balance out the “please, government, just take care of me” suggestions, so Obama can’t use those for propaganda purposes.

We don’t want to see an Obama/Daschle announcement that: “We received 100 million suggestions and they all involve suggestion of a nationalized health care systemt”.

How about, I want a free-enterprise, competitive, capitalist health care system that will give me the best value for cost, like we have now?

“It’s all a mirage....while people type in their ideas, the Dems will proceed to do as the please.”

That’s true, but they shouldn’t be able to claim full public support for it.

They will go ahead and say that anyway.

They are after all, hands-down, the party of lies.

Send 20 million illegal aliens home. Except for things like gunshot wounds or car wrecks or something extreme, refuse routine care to illegal aliens and on emergency trauma care, all illegal aliens who receive care must be deported upon hospital discharge and cannot return to the USA until they pay their hospital bills and come the legal way. Send the anchor babies back with their parents like the law states until the anchor baby is 21 and makes up his or her own mind and disavows citizenship for the other country before they return. Otherwise terminate all parental rights to anchor baby and place up for adoption. Do something to take the load off the emergency room for non trauma and non life threatening care for people who have no health insurance so the cost of care will lower that the taxpayer has to pick up. Audit hospital bills, insurance companies and prescriptions. Provide insurance for the minimum amount of care for those who have problems getting health insurance due to preexisting health problems. Leave an opt out provision for those of us who don’t want to socialized health care and can pay for it. Allow doctors to take anyone on socialized health care patient load to take paying clients so we don’t lose more doctors.

Send 20 million people home?

That's a good point. That unfunded drain on the healthcare system is quite large.

Well, doesn't it make sense to do that if they're going to consider doing it to physicians?

After all, the need for lawyers has a direct tie-in with the government, so it makes sense that they should be under a socialist system before doctors are, IMO!

Get the government completely out of the health care business and regulation!

Go back to the way it used to be when we had good health care at reasonable prices and there wasn't such a thing as insurance.

Health care is a privilege to be paid for by the recipient and not a right!!
