As if John Conyers would have proposed anything that would benefit a Republican, even Arnold Schwartzenegger.

But didn’t we own Panama at the time?
Or was it just the canal?

Because this is America, and we can do it. Would you prefer the crowd carry pitchforks?

Uh, yes! Upon reflection I think pitchforks and torches on the steps of CitiBank with demands for "return the money" and "bring out Robert Rubin and the rest of you can go home alive" would be excellent.

It wasn't my citation and as I said this was a murky situation for McCain of which the Democrats thought they needed to add a clause accepting him as a Natural born citizen.

As far as my feeling on the matter there is no one more qualified to be a natural born citizen than John McCain. He was born while his father was serving our country and by 2 US citizens. So, it wasn't my citation! Sorry, but I've been blogging non-stop for 3 months at a rate of about 18 hrs per day and I'm too tired today to find that stupid passage from Obama and Hillary.

Could some kind FReeper give the link?

Every child bears the genes of both parents. To only consider "one" as the basis of "qualification" FOR THE HIGHEST OFFICE OF THE LAND...is minimizing the qualification.

LOYAL AMERICAN PARENTS ONLY!!

Panama would still be a foreign country. We never “owned” the country.

Especially knowing the motivations of his mother. Egads, I wouldn't consider her to have America in her best interest.

It doesn’t matter where McCain was born. He was born to two married citizens, and was therefore a citizen from Birth. AKA: Natural Born Citizen.

As far as I am concerned any child born anywhere on earth whose parents are out of the U.S.A. due to military service should automatically be declared a
U.S. citizen.

I’m sorry you disagree. Maybe you should educate yourself.

If you would like to educate yourself, you can go to this link and learn everything you need to know. Then come back and tell us if you still disagree.

From Wikipedia: “In 1953, Congress passed legislation to specify the status of Americans born in the Canal Zone—and to exclude non-Americans born there from citizenship. Title 8, Section 1403 of the United States Code[5] grants citizenship to those born in the Canal Zone with at least one parent who is a United States citizen. This differs from the provision in the Fourteenth Amendment which grants citizenship to all born in the United States, regardless of parental nationality.”

Note “at least one parent” clause. This made it easier to be natural born in the Canal Zone than in Kenya, for instance.

Why did n’t you post this on the main forum?

All live threads are posted there?

Perhaps you can ask the Admin Moderator to switch it.

Not sure why
http://naturalborncitizen.wordpress.com/
just updated their site to include this, since it is already common knowledge to us and the reason Leo is fighting the natural born clause, but I'll post this new update anyway! Just in case some of you don't know!

THE RELEVANT OBAMA ADMISSION
Posted in Uncategorized on December 5, 2008 by naturalborncitizen

At Barack Obama’s web site, the following admission: FactCheck.org Clarifies Barack’s Citizenship
“When Barack Obama Jr. was born on Aug. 4,1961, in Honolulu, Kenya was a British colony, still part of the United Kingdom’s dwindling empire. As a Kenyan native, Barack Obama Sr. was a British subject whose citizenship status was governed by The British Nationality Act of 1948. That same act governed the status of Obama Sr.‘s children…”

Read that last line again.

“That same act governed the status of Obama Sr.‘s children…”

That’s an admission that Great Britain “governed the status” of Barack Obama, Jr. Brack Obama has chosen to highlight this on his own volition.

And this leads to the relevant question:

HOW CAN A NATURAL BORN CITIZEN’S STATUS BE “GOVERNED” BY GREAT BRITAIN?

A natural born citizen’s status should only be governed by the United States. This is the core issue before the Supreme Court of the United States.

Simple to understand: Just because a foreign nation also gives someone citizenship does not mean they can control US citizenship. In other words, just because Obama’s dad was British by means of being a Keynan, and they granted Obama British citizenship regardless of where he is born or to whom, does not mean the Brits cancel out any citizenship Obama may have been granted by any other nation. This means having a British citizenship is useless information regarding Obama’s birth in Kenya or the US.
