Mumbai: At least 15 people have been injured in gunfights between two groups in at least three places in Mumbai on Thursday night.
Details are sketchy but it is believed that two gangs fired at each other at outside CST Railway Terminus, Hotel Oberoi and the popular Café Leopold restaurant in Mumbai.
The first shooting took place near the CST police station

It sounds like the Mumbaikars(?) are getting fed up with their politicians as well. Groups of them are getting agitated on the streets and a bunch of SMS messages slamming the pols are being forwarded around to everyone.
Very interesting reactions from the tv reporter- furious with the government- they say politicians just use terrorism for political purposes- no matter what party..
People on the street having similar reactions- Indians seem as fed up with their government as we are...they see politicians using issues for their own power- but not protecting the country.
I used to think all that ‘Americans are stupid’ talk was a load.. Not anymore. They elected a guy that has SAID he’ll stand with our enemies.
In a world where politicians cared for their people more than their personal power, a multi national strike force including Russia, China, and Arab countries would go village to village through the entire Pakistan tribal region and burn every madrassa to the ground.
Just like here!
How many times in the last 48 hours have we heard that the situation is under control or nearly under control, only to find out that there are still terrorists holed up? This was very well planned and funded. I suspect that we don’t have any idea right now how large the scope of this operation is.
AQ next attack will be more impressive from their viewpoint, especially on US soil, and may incorporate something they never did previously. What type weapons were not involved this time that could be involved in the next attack to escalate and kill more people, especially American people, for that is the only thing they strive to do again and the question we have to be prepared for.
Agree. We should also bring stringent measures against the Pakistani government which feeds and shelters these animals.
The right wing BJP is trying to blame the congress party .
Twitter stream:
South african commandos on holiday helped shepherd 150 folks to safety from taj top floor
Thanks! How you holding up?
I agree with you- this was a major op and carefully planned.
Just heard an interview on the live feed- fascinating. There was a group of South African security people in Mombai for a conference- staying at the Taj. As soon as they realized what was happening they secured a room, and gradually, over several hours time, one person at a time, they took the people out a side door to safety.
Remarkable.
I can think of a number of strategically similar places in this country, east and west coast, where such an attack would be even more devastating due to the concentration of hotels and public watering holes. We need to beef up our offshore vigilance, especially near resort areas.
With all these ship hijackings going on I would definitely bring down Frederick Foryth’s “The Devil’s Alternative” from the book shelf and re-read it.
The host on NDTV is grilling the Pakistan FM. I think that India is still in shock, but it's slowly turning to rage. Guess who's going to be the target of that rage...
Everything is fine here .
But I did not send my cousin to school today .
If India and Pakistan can keep from shelling each other and sliding towards war this could be a major turning point in the WOT. I saw an interview with Gilani yesterday and he looked rattled. Statements from the Administration in Pakistan seem to be implying that they are not going to cover for elements in their intel or Islamic groups/parties anymore.
what’s the mood on the street? Do you sense the Indian public is going to demand retalitory action? Any public rage building against Pakistan yet?
stay safe
It seems we will have disability thrust upon us.
